NY chicken lover!!!!

You know how I'm always saying I stop at HD for culled lumber? Well today I stopped by just to see if there was anything I could use? There was all this plywood. 4 X 4' . for $1.01 a board. Some 3/4" and some 1/2". Also some 2 X 2' , for .51 cents. I bet I have enough to build a 4 X 4 coop easy. Got it all for $12.

I did buy some hinges at the flea market and some door hands for $1 each. I know I have enough hinges, cuz I buy extra just in case.

Chickens don't need a high coop so one that is four feet high will be plenty. I figure to build it 4 feet in the front and 3 feet in the back. As long as I can figure out how to construct the door for easy cleaning.

Or I might use it for ducks.

I've got more ideas than money and strength unfortunately.

It was Kraft Simply Cottage Cheese. He tried it, I tried it, then we went straight back to Hood and the Hannaford house brand. The chickens loved it, so at least it wasn't wasted!
I want to let you know that the hannaford brand is the same exact as the Hood brand. They are both made and packed at Hood. If your label has a V after the code date it is made where I work. I've tried the simply dips by kraft and they are disgusting!

Daycare resumes tomorrow!!!!

Think little girl is starting another growth spurt, gone from eating like a bird (well, not like our piggy-chickens) to wolfing down food yesterday. And super tired. She is getting overtired at night and instead of easily going down, she cries for daddy to take her in big bed (our bed!) And tonight she was complaining her foot hurt, I looked, it is full of little slivers. We were able to get the biggest one out, but the rest are super tiny. And I know they came from mother in law getting her shoes wet this weekend with a hose, so she had to run barefoot and was walking on rough cut lumber as a balance board.

*end rant*
Believe one of the NH is moulting. She doesn't look bad, but I see some extra feathers around and can see she has a few white feathers sticking out above her tail. And I am getting one less dark brown egg first thing in the morning. Those Anconas better start laying soon, they are supposed to be early maturing and are not that much younger than the rest. Also supposed to be good at foraging. They seem to forage best around the feed pan. They stay in their own little group with the 2 EE girls, away from the big kids. Guess the Anconas didn't read their breed profile.
Tab & Trav - Did the splash roo start laying yet?
No the splash roo didn't start laying yet, but it also hasn't crowed yet either. It has me stumped!

Aha! That would explain why the Hannaford brand rocks.

Would it be incredibly rude of me to email Kraft and say "your Simply Cottage Cheese has proven to be fit only for chickens, who aren't the most discriminating consumers around?" Probably, but it would be entertaining.

School went well for the new kid! Phew, that was a relief! I feel better now.

No eggs though again today. Wonder what's going on with our Miss "Golden Star".

OMG - there was an escapee from Survivor - Amish Paradise! Either that or Harry has returned from the dead. He is outside of the run tonight, at least he didn't fly in to harass everyone. Have to pick on Owen (Amish man) that he lost his dinner. Now what to do with the roo if he isn't claimed by nightfall...

Glad to hear that school went well. My kid has phase in this week....she's dramatic when I drop her off, no drama when my DH drops her off though. Must be a mom thing.

D-R-A-M-A

Maybe she is going to start laying every other day...?
