Girl, You gotta be brave enough to show! Did you get NPIP certified yet? I have to get renewed soon. Start showing at the Fingerlakes Feather Club show in June to get your feet wet. The very first time I showed was at The Fair. We won several BB, RB, BV, Best English, Reserve English, Reserve Continental, Reserve Featherleg & Champion Trio!

The birds I do well with at smaller shows will be the ones to take to Crossroads. I hope to hatch some better white silkies this spring... Not thrilled with the ones I have so far, but my splashes are magnificent! I feel very good about my black Orps & have a 4 week old lav orp with that perfect pale lavender color. I also have Red Dorking eggs in the new bator that I bought from an APA judge. They should be just barely old enough to show by then.

Hmmmm....I wonder if hubby's enclosed trailer is well ventilated....

NYS doesn't charge for NPIP certification. The whole process is pretty simple. We cage as many of the chickens as we can & do one breed at a time. You hold the chicken so the tester can prick under the wing, then appy pressure to stop the bleeding while the bloodtest is being done. Once they're tested, they put on a metal legband & record it. The hardest part is catching the chickens!

You may have some silkies to show, huh?

do you just have the blood test done evry year? no money dues every year?

yes but i dont think i am into showing. dont worry i'm not your competion. i put your eggs in lastnight with some of my sizzle eggs. i'm using the turner for my marans eggs and hand turning the silkies. even with the turner i'm turning 60 eggs a day by hand 3x. your incubator was perfect. all i did was plug in. the temp was already set. was better than buying new one.

I got mine sunday & moved 131 eggs into it tonite! I'm sure a bunch of them are too old to hatch. I sold a few weeks worth of eggs to help pay for the sportsman. I'll start candling & tossing next weekend.

I'm not worried about the competition! The breeder I got my blues from & I have been each others biggest competition...lol. We even swap white silkies, since we have different bloodlines. I just hope I can hatch some blacks this year!
