I haven't sold the hubby on the bator yet but I haven't tried either, all I have to do is tell him could be worse could be another puppy, we have 4 dogs, and he will agree to it. Kids can sleep through a bomb going off she will get used to it. LOL
i sold mine on it saying i could sell ee's for 3 a piece and can hatch like 15+. So within a few months could make money back then all profit. I didn't tell her we could be stuck with all 15+ though lol.

this little baby laid flat on her back for my son ...Like a dead chicken pose ...
Unless they are boys of Course ....then they will be returned to Sender ..LOL
You have alot of Roosters & hens ..do you let them all free range at the same time ? ? or not at all ?
Reason I ask is this ...My two white birds they are approx 2 months 3 weeks old ..
I suspect they are a boy & girl ..if I wanted them to stay a pair ..would they have to have their own coop & run ?
I hate to separate them as they have been together all their life ...or eat him if it is a roo .

Here they are in their cage /coop in the sky / near the top of the run .
I've been having this same problem with my silkie chicks who are getting bigger. I want them in the coop with the two silkie hens I got from Marq, they're more than half the size of the hens but every time I place them in there or even two at a time, the hens pick on them and I find them in the corner of the coop fearing the hens. Today I think I'm going to place a pen around the front of the silkie coop and put the chicks in it so that the hens could watch them and get used to them more. But if yours are still little compared to the bigger pullets, I would continue to do what you are doing if you want them to get and stretch their legs a big while the bigger ones are free ranging. Thats what I was doing for a while when I got the chicks - I put them in the larger coop with the run while they others free ranged. I have enough shelter around here for them to take cover if it does rain (which we still haven't gotten much of.) They'll learn to find a place IMO, and I wouldn't worry about them being out as late as dusk, mine were out till almost 9 last night while I was out there cleaning up after work (8pm) I was going to put them the minute I went out there because they were up by the coop but as soon as I stepped off the porch they all came running towards me. LOLGramma,
Good luck with the new babies -- loved the names you gave a couple already!![]()
Can I get some suggestions from folks with regard to integrating the (3) younger pullets from Marquisella in with the significantly bigger (4) girls from Rancher?
Right now the routine is they sleep in the coop all together, but the young 'uns are in a dog cage.
In the day time, while the big girls go out, the younger ones have the run of the coop, or I take them out to free range for an hour while I am outside watching them.
It complicates things if the bigger girls want to come in the coop during the day. Yesterday, I had to lock them out while I was gone at my son's baseball game which ran late, and I felt bad they they were out there until almost dark. They were not pleased as it ran an hour over where they've been tucking themselves in.
The little ones really are that: little. In relation to the four larger ones, anyway.
THANKS, as always!
