Well I made it through all those posts.
With my run I clean it like the coop but when it's wet like now I just dump some more wood chips or open a bale of straw/hay and toss some scratch. Keeps things dry. Cleaning time every thing goes to the compost. I call my birds mud hens cuz they are. I do dig a bit of a trench around one side so the water runs down and away. Still it gets wet when we get as much rain as we have been.
The garden is raised beds to it's not to bad. Bought some more tomatoes to put in since I killed all the ones I started.
Went to country max for starter grower and they were out. AGAIN! Ticked me right off. They sell chicks but don't order enough. Even after I told them you need to feed it to chicks til they're near laying time.
Lynzi - I think we've all had those dreams. Hope all goes well.
Traded a lav ee for two br roo chicks since buying eggs is way too much. Crazy came in for her dogs. Rotties. I didn't see them which is good I suppose. We used to have one and I miss Bertha but am afraid to attempt to find one a nice as her. Jlaw - hope things go well with your new dog. He's a lucky guy I'm sure. Though he might not think so after visiting the vet.
Went out to the coops to collect eggs last evening and what to my wondering eyes should appear? A cute little Del chick running here and there. Buckwheat had hatched it but was still on the nest. She good at hatching but mothering not the best. So I picked the tot up and put it in my pocket and collected the eggs while I decided where to docket. I put it back under momma, I'm much to old for all of this drama.
I'll have to check and see how things fared last night.
Someone wanted marans eggs and I do have them but they're Birchens. Let me know if you'd like to me to set some aside for you. Only two hens are laying at this time. The others haven't started up again after hatching chicks.
Well have a nice day folks,
Rancher
