Bree - I can't speak for anyone else but I've left doors open through the night and didn't latch them well only to find the birds in the yard in the AM.
TOB - I am sorry for your trouble mixing the girls. I have had a few problems and am right now.
I've moved all the birds out of the back room, w/ the intent not to use it for chickens again, and put them in with the EE's where they have yet to go into the coop on their own at night. Last night there they were in a pile near the back room door wet with the rain. I had little trouble picking them up and moving them to the coop. AGAIN!.
I tried to put the blue EE hen in with the Marans but she got beat up by one of the younger roos and jumped the fence back to the yard. I am still trying to get the young Marans roos into the Marans coop too. Every night I pick them up and move them and every morning when I let them out the jump the fence back to the other side. I am undaunted.
Looks like I have another frizzle. The chick is barred, but so far just showing it's frizzle. If it's head spot is any indication it's a roo. The del patterned frizzle is looking really frizzed. My plan is to develop some frizzled EE's and Marans. or at least some crosses just for fun.![]()
Spent the better part of today cleaning and bagging currants and gooseberries. I measured or weighed them and marked the bags according to the recipe they will be used for then put them in the freezer. Next to get the raspberries.

Getting an early jump on Photo Friday...took some recent pic's, and I thought these were cute.
Here are the big girls in the outdoor pen. Rancher, until we expand the pen (and we plan to in the fall), this shows most of the size of the pen; it's over 3/4 represented in the pic. You had asked about its size.
One more of the bookend girls, the Columbian Rocks, Ursa & Molly.
