NY chicken lover!!!!

Well you aren't that far away, I could always come and learn.  I'm getting tire of giving roosters away.  With the BM's you have to wait a long time to see how their colors turn out.  By that time you might as well eat them.  They do mature fast though.

It's not the killing part it's the gutting that's holding me back.

Not that I have any extra Roos, but if the day came and I did have to get rid of some, I'm sure my husband would love to have one for dinner. I could never cull myself though. Like you said it's the gutting that would kill me-there's no way I'd be able to do it without vomiting. I have a weak stomach. Verrrrry weak!

Just thought you might like to see my up and coming free range rooster. He will probly be the only rooster in that flock this winter. I really have to thank Featherz for giving him to me a few months back. He is actually huge for his age and towering over some of my other boys 3 months older than him.

And Louie who is my main breeder roo for next spring. He is a January hatch but smaller than ace in both height and weight.

I'll try to get a better picture of her for you when she's not busy brooding, she's the sweetest hen though, loves to be held. She's mostly black with a whiteish ring around her neck.

My kids held them a lot when they were here. They do with all the chicks we have. I love being able to go to the Silkie coop and they all flock over to our hands looking for food so it's easy to get a hold of them when we need to.

New method to de-broody a hen. Some people say to stick ice cubes under them. Why not stick the whole hen in the fridge? Note: She was only left in there while taking the picture, and that is our garage fridge. She actually seemed quite content in there.
ha ha ha ha ha! That is one of the funniest pictures ever! Thanks for sharing it. sue

President Obama is coming to Cuse, my husband is getting a call when he's here to have some Dinosaur BBQ delivered to him. They're not saying where but I'm sure they'll have someone meet to get the food. I hear he has plans to come to Tully while he's here.

Is anyone going to the fair Thursday night to see the animals? My friend mentioned something about them letting folks in for free to view the animals, doesn't sound like the rest of the fair will be open but apparently they let people in to see the animals as they're brought in??? DH brought tickets and parking for 5 days home tonight. Still not sure when we're going. I told him he was short two tix for my friend and I to go kid free. Lol

Yeah I love it when you go to the chickens and they come running, most are so eager for treats they just peck at my shoes. I'm going to the fair probably sun it's am 1hr15min drive. only going one day. Obama is going to buffalo cuse & binghamton. 7 too many shootings in Rochester over the weekend.
