NY chicken lover!!!!

Just got back from a short snowmobile ride with the wife, only 70 miles today:) We left from Pompey this morning and went through Fabius, Deruyter, Georgetown and back up through Highland Forest to Fabius and back to Pompey.
Had 6 eggs in the nests today. 4 from the barnies and 2 from the cochins. Nothing was frozen today, all of yesterday's were cracked and froze. I have to say that I'm happy with the color of the barnie eggs. Nice darkish brown. Their egg color is still a work in progress, I would like them to be a little darker but I can't complain.

Thank you so much to Lynzi777. Everyone is settled in nicely.

Glad to hear she is doing ok. And now you know she is cold hearty as well

I am guessing she will be first in this evening lol
I'm sure that you will count twice tonight.

I have a question about E bay and orders.

I bought a set of books but want to have them sent to my DIL in Florida. I contacted the seller to request the change. Does anyone here have experience in changing the shipping address to other places?

I want to buy things/gifts for my grand children and have them shipped directly to them. In some cases the shipping is free and there is not sense in having stuff come here first.
You should be able too. I have ordered things especially dh's christmas presents and have them shipped to mil house.

I went to CM and bought a bale of straw and I'm not happy with it. It seems awfully light and may be smaller too. In fact the kid who loaded it mentioned how light it is.

I went and bought a bale of straw from the CM in Cortland and it was full of mold! I took it back and got another one that was moldy on one end. I'm not sure that I will ever buy one from there again. (I usually get mine from the farm down the road)

SO? How many still have their Christmas tree up? Every year ours gets less and less ornaments put on. Pretty soon it will just have lights and that's it.

Ours is still up, but it is coming down this week. Last year when my ds was 2 we only decorated the top half. It looked so funny. This year he left it alone so we did the whole tree.

You went through my neck of the woods. I live in DeRuyter. I haven't gone in a while, but I think that the trail goes close by my house when your heading to Georgetown.

Rancher just get a 3 feet tall tree leave it all set up and store it that way. My grandma use to do that.

Lynzi777 is that going to be enough girls for gru? I know each roo is different but didnt want your girls to have too bare of a back. Good luck on rehoming i know i would take the barred rocks if i was closer.

I've decided for now to rehome my Buff Orp and Barred Rock hens I have. I'm going to relocate the trio of Orps - Gru, Stella and the Blue pullet to a smaller coop, keep them around for eggs with the option to hatch since I'll hang onto Gru.

I'm going to move my trio of silkies to the larger coop and add a trio of bantam cochins and hopefully a trio of frizzles. Hopefully I can find some nice adults for sale by spring so I can hatch this summer with my new incubator. I do have some splash silkie eggs coming so I'll be keeping 1-2 of those as well IF I have a successful hatch.
YES...the Silkies are moving...and to the larger coop. Any extra Silkies...you know I am interested. WE LOVE SILKIES. Have fun. Regards, Aria

We'll have to wait and see. He is respectful of them, I will say that. If he tries to go after them and they run, he stops. He won't pursue his actions. If I haven't found a home for her and I end up taking a ride to Nature Berry Farms I'll let ya know. The BR is really nice looking now that she's gone thru her molt.

I've purchased some new lights that don't get hot so the queen doesn't get burned. I'm phasing out the old lights. Too, I couldn't find any of the old bulbs.

We also put only ornaments she can't break or get hurt on near the bottom. You just know they want to touch. DW says it will come down tomorrow. I like to put it in the yard. Perhaps drag it into the woods and stand it up. Maybe put some lights on it too.

I think I've said I might get one of those artificial half trees that hang on the wall and just take everything off and surround it with floor sized house plants.

Ohhh or perhaps a floor sized Norfolk pine. Though I do tend to kill them. I think most folks do, that's why their for sale every year.

Another mystery death, similar Breella's this time. one of the Anconas was laying in the corner of the coop on the floor. They roost in the rafters, so odd she was in the coop. Feet curled up like she was roosting, head tucked back under her wing. She feels like a good weight at least, since I can't get my hands on them usually. Who knows. Also seen one of the BR hens hiding under the coop, worried she was dead, but she jumped up and hopped on one leg when I poked her. Caught her, checked her, one leg is swollen, with a blood spot under the leg scales. Leg wobbles a little, so may be broken. Put hay in the floor level nest box and put her in for he night, but she went out and jumped up in the roost. Leg doesn't appear badly broken, wasn't flopping around, so will keep an eye on her.
We all went to play in the snow a bit, Little Girl has been home due to break then snow days and is driving us nuts. Lol. We let Harvey off leash for the first time. He pounced after a couple chickens that ran, but because he was happy to be free and showed no aggression towards them or desire to chase. Still needs work on his recall, but he loved to be able to run and bounce thru the snow.
Rancher, if you do disperse chickens, I'd be interested in a few younger chickens.

Lol my step dad used a norfolk pike as his tree. It lived for years. My mom use to try and kill it puting it out in winter and letting cat use bathroom in it. It finaly died after like 15 years.everytime it was close to dieing he would get it back up and living. Needless to say she hated that thing. Once they got maried she made hime use a real fake tree.

I don't know about ebay, but most online stores give you the option the enter a Billing Address and a Shipping Address. Usually there is a box you can check or uncheck to say "use  this as my shipping address" or "shipping address is different from billing address"

I would think you could. There should be an option to add shipping addressees. I know amazon does for sure.
