We love our outdoor furnace! Unlimited heat and hot water as long as the sucker is up to temp, and it burns anything

Morning all! Lovely to have warmer temps this morning. The cheeps were in a hurry to get out this morning. I think they are happy about the warmer weather as well. Have to work a bit today then home to do coops. Want to get them done before the freezer returns. Getting antzy to hatch but holding off.

Time to roll. Later cheeps!

Morning!

Today is catch up on chores day. I've washed dishes and eggs, 2 loads of laundry so far, and fed everyone. Next is wash up, floors, and more laundry (bedding). Then tonight DH and I are going to my company party.

Coops clean. Ducks have water. Mom showered and bag changed. Prayers for my brother in law who just had not one but TWO heart assist pumps installed, said. Firewood in. Wood chips brother brought over tarped. (they will work for floor, still have to buy shavings for nest boxes. Oh well. Cuts out part of the cost anyway) Wire put back up in rafters after removing frozen eggs. (Silly chickens) What else do I need to do today? LAUNDRY!! Ok. I'm off to the porch to wash, dry and fold laundry.

Enjoy the warmer weather and if you have a chance send a prayer to God (or whoever you believe in) for my brother in law. It really isn't looking good and he is only 56 years old.

My DH was one of those guys that wore shorts even in the winter. When it was really cold, he would put a second pair of shorts on. It wasn't till we were together for 3 years before I saw him in a pair of pants for the first time. And he surprised everyone at our wedding when he wore pants during the ceremony. There were more whispers when he came out wearing pants then I did with my dress.

I remember us out shoveling show hip deep I was all bundled up and he was in his shorts. As he has gotten older he wears pants all the time now except in the house. That and he has to for his job and he is very self conscious because he has bad psoriasis on his legs.

Cass I'm praying for you brother in law. 56 is just to young!

Jlaw - The house doesn't look that bad. There are houses around here that look so much worse. There is a neighbor that wraps their house in plastic for winter.

Tab- you've been busy this morning!

Cass, I'll be praying for your brother! And for you too! You are very strong and generous to help your mom!

We've had a whirlwind of 2 months with my folks. Mom had a massive stroke in Nov., dad is fighting hard to keep his leg! We are all praying that he makes it through leg bypass surgery, he was cancelled once already because of heart trouble, and will try again Monday if all goes well.

Quote: Single combs are recessive, so if you breed them to another comb, like a rosecomb, all chicks will have rosecombs as long as the rosecombed bird doesn't have any single comb recessive genes lurking about. Of course, doing that blows the breeds standard, and egg color.

I have some rose comb leghorns if you want some eggs, once they are laying again. I can tell who lays what, and I can grab eggs from the friendlier girls. My rooster was hatched from rcbl hen and Wyandotte mix roo. He is shown in my avatar, but that was taken over a year ago, he has filled out a bit since then. Fertilized eggs from him x rcbl eggs I have will be mostly rcbl. The girl I have hatched from him and one of my leghorns is slightly larger than my others and lays a nearly white tinted egg. Other than the slightlly off egg color, you wouldnt know she isn't all rcbl. That may throw your egg color too much, but if you're interested I can help out. Also want to let you know that the hens are hatchery birds from my first ever chicks (mcmurray). PM me if you're interested.
