NY chicken lover!!!!

They say up to 3 strings of the 180' rolls can be hooked together. Would become a bit cumbersome, but it would give the birds lots of safe space to scratch around in.

Well my problem is I have no trees whatsoever in my yard. The one in my picture is really the only one that would supply any kind of coverage. There is a small maple on the left hand side of my yard but I wouldn't be able to see them from inside my house easily. This was purchased last year for the LF I had but this year I plan to use like this, sectioned off into pens for the little ones. Eventually the three Orps will be let out to free range. If I buy more of the netting I'll end up getting more birds! LOL

I'm thinking of getting a 3rd roll just so they have almost a 1/3 of the yard to roam and I could stop moving it around to give them a new area to roam. I don't have a lot of trees either but I made a couple of easy structures to put out in their area that they use to lounge or hide under. My neighbors trees on the property line give them shade but no protection from predators. Thankfully I have a lot of crows around and they keep the hawks away.

Ps I would buy a roll since your husband ok'd it :).

I have a tree shortage as well. To clear a brushy area under a couple pine trees is one of my plans for this summer. More birds... Yeah. Certainly a hazard.

I'm actually looking at them now...Although I can't remember spending that much on the roll I bought, did their prices go up? I could have sworn I bought the 100' roll for no more $130 shipped.

You could get 2 free pallets and make a little A Frame for them to hide under?

Put first eggs in the Redwood incubator yesterday. Finally figured out how it works, and its been keeping temps up consistantly now for a week, so in they went. I'll put eggs in each week until my other incubator is empty. It will make my life easier having it in the barn instead of the house. Heres a pic, it needs refinishing, but will do that over the summer when I'm not using it. I put 1/3 the number of eggs in it that my Sportsman holds and it didn't even fill up one drawer...oh my!
Wow, that's really neat. Looks like a nightstand! LOL That's going to look really nice when you refinish it this summer. And it has an egg turner and everything in those drawers?
The drawers have Manuel turners but I'm out in barn 3 times a day anyhow so turning is ok.that said, Of course forgot to turn them this am already. Lol.

I think their prices have gone up. I check periodically for sales, but the net fencing never seems to go on sale.

I just checked back at my statement from when I bought that fencing and I paid $133. It just doesn't tell me which one I bought so maybe I did only get the 84' one? I have no idea now. LOL But I could have sworn I sprung for the 100' one knowing if I didn't I would probably want more of it. Just seems like the one I got went from $130-something to $160-something.

Nevermind, this is one I bought:

12/42/3 Kit, (100' black/white, double spike netting & 42" support posts) In Stock 0.00 $150.60

so it looks like it went up $20 bucks or so because of the extra "support posts" they are now including with them. I didn't get support posts with mine.

Sorry to everyone for your losses! Lynzi remember the bunny I got from you well I believe he is a she as he has been in with 2 females since I got him and never a baby I even tried putting him with a different female and nothing which is fine with me that I have 4 females just means I don't have to worry about babies.

On the chicken front my freeloaders are starting to lay slowly I am getting about 2 eggs a day although that is 2 eggs from about 50 hens but some are getting older and I think I should have left the lights on but that's ok eventually the snow might melt and we might get some grass and they will actually go outside. This year I have decided to completely let them free range they hopped the fences last year and would hop back and forth this year I am just going to see what happens with leaving the gates to the fences open I have plenty of trees for safety and numerous little a frames they can go under .
