NY chicken lover!!!!

I actually orderd the Partridge Chanteclers from Welp over the weekend of 5/14 because their site DID NOT say they were out, just short on supply. Then I was worried that there were going to charge me now and I wouldn't get the chicks till who knows when so I called them on Monday the 9th. The rep said she would check into when they would be available and call me back. About an hour later she called and said they would be ready to ship on Wed 5/18 shipping out of New Mexico (Privett Hatchery?). I got them this morning, 1 was injured and had to be culled.

It looked like it had been squished by something. Missing a toe on one foot, cut off, and a hip was out of joint and it could not stand. Otherwise the rest are great.

I'll keep you updated as they grow.

Ok ... you guys aren't playing fair. Now there is ANOTHER breed I just have to have. Good thing I don't have any more room in my coop, unless all these chicks turn out to be roos.

Annie, let me know when you have Chantecler eggs for sale....I know it's way in the future, but so is my silkies going broody, since they don't have all their feathers yet.

You got it! They are so much calmer than any other chicks we've had. We put our hands in the brooder and they don't scatter like maniacs. Cool!

Scatter? You want to see scatter, you should try and open the top of the brooder holding the 4 chicks Annie gave me. I named one "Houdini" and another "The Assistant". The Assistant will distract me and Houdini will escape. The two brown ones are the culprits, FYI, Annie. I don't know who their parents were but they are definately escape artists.

I got me 5 of those "cute silkie chicks" people rave about? They are dumb as rocks. Wait, that's insulting all the pet rocks out there. Cute, but dumb, dumb, dumb.

The world is ending today at 6 pm our time.

I am off to work, then off to get the last of the chicks I want....so If I don't see you ever again, have a nice rapture.

Good thing I got those Chanteclers yesterday. My last wish before "THE END". Maybe I should look for more today before it's all over.

Maybe the brown ones are part Sussex. The girls fly up to my arms to be held. Silly girls.

That was classic! (wiping tears from my eyes) Sort of like when I bought a new incubator and my boyfriend comes home and says "why do you have that?" I say because you never know when we may need it (had borrowed one for our first attempt). Then he comes home and says "why is that incubator up & running?" I say just to check the temps and make sure it works well. The next night... "why is it still running and ... why are there EGGS in it?" Um, cuz I won an auction on eBay? Okay, maybe TWO auctions. Hee, hee... Yes, with much eye batting! I do love him!

Yep, Pine Creek in Lyons. Really nice folks there, I don't think they make their own rabbit because they don;t have a pellitizer?

I had had a conversation with them about running custom feed and I think they will, you just need a 2 ton minimum, so if you have a bunch of other breeders going in on you, I know I can't use or store that much feed!

Reisdorfs will also mill custom feed (They'll tell ya they won't, because they want you to just buy what they have, lol) Its a nice option if you are close to them and they will deliver, but I think they require a ton minimum?

There is also a mill out in Cohocton too (Shur fine? I forget) Thats also too far for me to drive too. If you're buying rabbit from them you need to call first before you drive all the way out there and find out they didn't bring any in that day from the main plant!

I think there is also someplace in Penn Yan where you can get orgainic feed? So lots of great choices too far for me to drive too, lol
