NY chicken lover!!!!

I have 4 isa brown hens. I absolutely love them. They were a gift my brother gave my daughter. So far their personalities are great and they are fantastic layers. I would love a rooster just like them. I need a big rooster since i lost my bob who was a huge light brahma.

Don't know where your located but I've got two young boys (July 2 hatch) that would give a Brahma a run for it's money on size.
Ones a black Langshan the other white Jersey Giant. If I can't find someone that wants or needs them I'll have to put them in the freezer.

Wow they are huge. I have 3 roos atm and none of them last a moment in with my rir, br and isa. Two are silkies and one is an easter egger who is handicapped. Its been difficult finding a roo who will mate and last with those ladies.

I also have cockerels. One Buff-Laced Brahma. Three BCM. They have a date with the freezer, so PM me if you're interested.

If you're not interested in keep ALL purebreds a cross can produce some pretty and productive hens. Many of the older breeds started out as crosses. So you could just keep hatching from the same rooster and hen breed to get birds you like.

I've considered a New Hampshire in with my Dels to get sex linked chicks.

Met a nice stay at home mom from up north and sent her our way. I'm sure you'll all be as inviting as usual.

Now look it you! Just because I'd posted the chicks for sale ($1 each) but gave them to her since she drove so far, does not mean I'm enabling.

Just because I hatch chicks and give them away each year does not mean I'm enabling.

Sometimes I can't help myself.

Any rumors that I dropped a chick in each kids bag on Halloween are not true.............. but I did think about it.

You make me laugh, Rancher!

Bahahaha! You are too much rancher! However, it does give me ideas for my little chicken man next door and he has a little brother as well!!!

So my slacker hens arent done molting yet as I am only getting 2 to 3 eggs a day from the 19. I informed The Duke that he better have a word with his ladies about the situation because it's in his best interest that they start laying again. He looked at me then ran off under the coop. I heard bawking and cluck so maybe he spoke to them. We shall see.

My friend had her baby yesterday so I ran off this morning and got to hold him. I had forgotten how small they are! So nice to hold one again. Babies smell Devine and cuddle so nicely!

Yes, rooster does taste just like chicken! Cook them long, low and slow and they will be tasty. They come out fantastic in a pressure cooker.

Can't believe Christmas is in 20 days. Means hatching season is coming up for me! In march of course. Still don't know if I have a son of legolas.

Have a good evening!

Darned if I've ever found a Yankee candle that was New Baby.

I've switched my birds back to Egg Producer Agway and have been leaving the light on all night. They've picked up. Though that doesn't mean I won't be selling them if I get an offer.

I came here to mention there was an incu on CL. $70 w/turner.

Just came in from finishing cleaning coops before winter. Yes, the last one I turned on their light & used my trusty headlamp to go back & forth. Only have the roosters' coop left, but so glad to get that done on a beautiful warm day for December! While I was at it, did a little rearranging of some of the young stock. The "big group" still on grower feed, even though there are adults too, many of which are molting. One hen "Pansy" looks like a porcupine right now.
