I can see half of my coops from my kitchen window, I think the chickens are doing the backstroke out there!

Did you get rid of the lav pullet? I'm looking for them too. I should have had you bring me back some from Jody...

No. I did get 5 Lavs , 4 pullets and the roo. Hows that for good luck. Of the 2 buff. 1pullet and 1 roo. Of the 5 whites 3 pullets and 2 roos. Two of the pullets were smaller though. One died and I've sold a pair and keeping the biggest hen and a roo. Of the 2 blks. both nice roos.

Her lavs are pure but they were $20 a chick. A lot I know but worth it not to have to deal with splits. They're nice though one is a little skinny I think.

I hatched out 2 lav pullets & 2 lav cockerels from rockinpaints, and got some lavs & splits from Renee. I ended up with 3 lav pullets, the 2 lav cockerels & 2 lav split cockerels. So, I'd like a ocuple more pullets. I love the lav color.... So far they are all living together, but will have to remove the splits soon as they are about 5 months old now so should start laying, I think.
Its my first experience with Orps.

Here are the pics of the chicks I hatched from Meagan's(Muggsmagee) eggs.

The black one is a lav. split ameraucana and the other is an olive egger, but I can't remember the 2 breeds mixed and I deleted the email from her. Correct me if I'm wrong, Meagan.

And in with their brooder mates, a bantam white leghorn and a brown laced wyandotte from Rudy B.

And lastly, about half of my flock free ranging on Saturday. I have a huge back lawn and they choose to be in the driveway!

I was gonna say that.

Marq - my girls have just started laying. I've no splits but will when I cross the blacks with the lav hens. I'm not sure I'll breed the lav roo to a lav hen unless someone wants pure lav chicks. Then maybe not even then. I offered Renee to come down and have a look but she's not talking so I'll guess I'll have to make that decision myself.

I hatched mine in March, when did you get yours? I am going to breed the lavs together first, then I will leave the black split in for a while. I love seeing those 5 lavs together, the color is beautiful.

I should get a couple of lav chicks from you to mix with mine. I'm not starting up my incubator until the middle of Sept, hopefully they will be laying by then.
I'm getting 2 doz silkie eggs from CJexotics mid september to replace eggs that didn't hatch. I'm picking them up instead of having her ship them like last time...hope I get a better hatch.

Picked up a couple of Silkies on Saturday. What a great day. We went to an auction right up the road. It was a lot of Amish goods (quilts, furniture, farm equipment) and a bunch of horses. There were no small animals listed except 50 RIR hens. Well, they must have has a few hundred birds there, some rabbits, quinea pigs, etc. We also picked up some Lady Amhert pheasants.

For $2 a piece, I couldn't resist.
