NY chicken lover!!!!

Thanks, Sounds good are they all raised organically? That's very important to me and the family.
I was actually looking into some of the breeds you have, any White Leghorn pullets by chance? Another breed I'd like to try, I'm not really going crazy (to big) seeing its my first shot at this adventure, want to see how all works out especially through the winter months, would definitely like to hatch my own eventually, but that won't be for some time, need to learn how to float before you swim! Lol
I'm probably looking for 6 maybe 7 pullets/starters if that's ok with you? And as long as they are raised organically!

Yes that's fine but just don't know when and if I can make it up your way, your probably what? Good hour & a half, hour & 45 mins north of me, need to see if I can make that happen!!

Hope your sister-in-law gets a good hatch!

She and I both enjoyed talking to you about the project and I'm glad she won the eggs as I'm not incubating again for a bit. Your Homesteaders are similar to what we're each doing with our flocks. Once my garden is in I might finally get around to expanding the barn coop so I can really focus on my projects.
Good night all.

Yes, it was nice talking with you both too. I'm glad they'll be a nice addition to your flocks. I appreciate many of the pure, rare & heritage breeds, but I really enjoy having fun playing with genetics & colors. And also looking for traits that make more a better chicken, such as foraging, brooding, hardiness, etc, all while maintaining & improving egg/meat qualities.

Sounds like you have quite the prep work for your garden!
Good night all!

Im sure At the time it wasnt funny ...but your story made me laugh...
Was the boy screaming too ?

Nah, just me, screaming like a baby, or a girl, or a chicken fruitloop... It was just a shock to go from chit chatting to panic when I saw the garage door open. Dog was way over by the garden and giants coop, he wasn't getting through that fence.
Boy (3,4 in July) didn't like the dog or the neighbor though, clams up around strangers, all our girls were social butterflies, talk to anyone.

@Beer can that must've been scary! I would've done the exact same thing! Curious...what chicks do you have? Did you end up deciding to get turkens?

Yup, 15 turkens two weeks ago, and one extra I think is a partridge plymouth rock, turkens are growing much faster and feathering out much faster also.
Hatched out seven giants, five giant silkie crosses and one giant polish cross. Had many more giant eggs not hatch but they were three weeks old.
DW says the naked necks are the ugliest things she ever saw, me and the kids think they're awesome and cute, Lol! :-D

I have two turkens and I like them! DH thinks they'll ugly too. Mine did feather out quickly and are pretty big for their age. I wonder how those giant silkie crosses will grow out looking.

Don't think I posted these here, few of my day old white giants

Few of them actually have the same black and dark grey color like the white giants, probably will turn white like the giants do.
