These were hatched early feb, so they are seven months old now. I think they started out laying about two months ago, so not too bad! Eggs are still kinda small tho. They were all supposed to lay olive eggs, but alas, I musta picked the wrong chicks outta the batch when I sold the rest.

Actually my prettiest eggs (IMO) are from my two typical brown hatchery EE's - they lay pretty mint green eggs. Love those! Someone laying a speckled egg every day as well - not sure who that is.

I just recently made my mother get rid of her 5 plus yr old chickens and then I couldn't find any replacements....well in my search I ran across Nature Berry Farms and they had some EEs that they sell as Amerucanas ...I am hoping they will be a beautiful egg and my mom will forgive me for making her sell the old ones...I have a long 5 months to wait...mine hatched in May so next month?!

Mine are also the Americaunas/EEs from Nature Berry. They are even younger than yours, so you'll have to tell me about the egg color, but a friend of mine who has older EEs from NB says hers are laying brown eggs. I haven't seen them myself, so I'm not sure if they are a regular brown egg or more of an olive. But I'm still hoping for blue/green tint from my ladies. Hopefully your mom's too.

What prompted you to get rid of your mom's chickens?

To those who posted recently about bucket feeders: Thanks for the ideas and the pics. Not happy with the feeder I recently bought, so I think I'll give it a try. How big an opening do you make in the bucket? From the pics I would guess about 2x2". Think that's about right?

They were old!! She is 78 and has a huge egg buying base and needed newer..younger birds...LOL...did you get them last week..I called on the 6th..had to check to see if mom was ok..she was..I called back and out of the 8 there were 4...it was a 2.5 hr ride for my sisters...They did get a White Rock...they were told they EE's were 5 wks but my sister said they are smaller then one she hatched on the 26th of July... I will be so disappointed if the eggs are brown..she has brown..needs more olive..my sister sold most of what she hatched..
Were yours feathered? Hers had some..
