Im excited to say i have positively (i think)identified 4 of my chicks as barred rock. They are the funniest little buggers. Not 1 of the 75 or so i got on the 19th look anything like it did then. I also think i have a silkie , it has grown and is healthe but not 1 actual featger yet. Its fluff has gotten thicker and longer but not a single feather.

I'm tempted to order some Mottle Cochins to cross to my Frizzle girls. I gave Frenchy some eggs since though I haven't tried to break her. I may change my mind tomorrow.

The squirrels are coming around more since fall is upon us. They're looking for places to hide their nuts. I caught two in the traps today. Hopefully they won't come back.

Luvs chis is at the fair everyday ...Ye old Ox Roast ..I think it is ..she only there morning s ,,ask for Sam or Samatha ...
The 1st year I met her ...I had no idea her name or what she looked like ..so I just asked ...does anyone here have chickens ?

YES!...I work at the fair. I have been cooking breakfast every morning. 10 days...only 2 more left...but no one is counting

....If you make it before 11:00am come and say HI!

Like Gramma said I cook at The "Ye Olde Ox Roast" Booth it is a the corner of the poultry barn, the dairy barn, and the Coliseum. Come to the side window and I'm usually right there cooking Pancakes and French Toast, and say Hi! I think that I have made about 500 pancakes and about 600 french toast so far.

It is always several months before I can eat them again, much to my kids dissapointment...

I have been very busy, but I do take a walk through the poultry barn almost every day on my way out to the van. For the most part the birds are looking pretty good. I did stumble on a game bird with a HUGE swollen eye. I told one of the managers about it as soon as I saw it and I told the other one the next morning. I didn't get a chance to check today, I had to hurry home as we had a party to get to.

I'm sorry if I missed anything I had over 100+ posts so I was skimming and skipping pages. Once the fair is over I can really catch up on what has happened I hope..

I did end up going - it was fun! I did go through the poultry barn - I saw several chickens that looked a little iffy, hunched over with eyes closed. Hopefully it was just stress..

Didn't get in until after 11, unfortunately - I TRIED to leave earlier, but my other half was slowin' me down..

We don't have kids so we were pretty much able to cover the whole thing in a few hours. I liked it, but not sure if I'd go again if they don't fix the parking situation. THankfully we got in before they started closing all the parking lots.

Would anyone happen to know someone who might be selling Cochins. I got out of them a while ago and I want to start over again. I have one hen so if anyone knows where I could find a nice rooster or rooster and hens that'd be great. I'm looking for both bantam and LF so if anyone might be able to help me please pm me. County Boy - that is odd - I just asked about you a few months ago because someone in my area is interested and they wanted to purchase some and I thought of you ... I figured you may still have had your foundation birds. Hopefully someone one here will have some grand peeps of your birds or know another breeder. You were doing a great job with them.

I still have my county boy birds!! No roosters tho, just a few hens. I am glad you are back!
