NY chicken lover!!!!

So I figured I'd officially let you all know how last weeks hatch went. Not great I'm afraid. I had humidity issues and to make a long story short I have 6 chicks. 4 needed help hatching. I did set 2 dozen more for the New Years hatch along. We had some issues with feet and legs from the humidity but I managed to fix it. Then a touch of pasty but but that is mostly cleared up too. Here are a few pics of some of the new chicks.

Well we bought a new Snow Thrower...hubby said ..I want you to stop shoveling paths for chicken s ..
So I want it small enough so you can use it .
I tried it out today ..I can handle it ..
BUT I still shoveled some ...snow blower doesnt go down to the grass ..LOL
Wasnt that Sweet of him ?

Yes, Gramma, very nice of him. Saves your back quite a bit, I would assume. I've been up reading til now. Book club meeting on Monday and I only started reading tonight. I'm almost halfway through, so tomorrow I hope to get a few more hours in.

They are from shipped eggs. 36 shipped eggs but 15 made it to lockdown. I did not expect all 15 to hatch but was hoping for more then 6. I got lucky with the 6. They are all doing great now but it was a rough start. I'm going to candle the ones I have in the bator today. Hopefully they are doing good so far.

Super cute chicks @ cutipatootie! I have 3/4 of my hatch out one is still rest idk if it's better or worse to have auto sexing I think I prefer not knowing right away that 2 are def boys

.... I have very little hope for the batch I set yesterday 2 were broke and the others all had unstable air cells even after resting for 24 hours... I stuck them in maybe a cpl will start they weren't packed the best and I think they were older...

I will wish you luck. My eggs were packed well but spent an extra day in the mail. Most of the air cells looked pretty good. I have read that it increases success of shipped eggs if you incubate them standing up and not rotating them for up to 7 days. I have only done up to 4 days.

I just checked my new batch of eggs in the incubator today. Only 6 were bad. 5 did nothing 1 early quitter. That leaves me with 18 looking good. Now if I could just get them to hatch. I'm going to have to keep a close eye on humidity.
