NY chicken lover!!!!

Are you going by a thermometer that records high and low temps? How was the temp when you saw it?
It may be that it recorded just a spike in temp, if it was just a quick spike that recorded it's possible that the eggs themselves didn't warm up that much, would have taken a little time.
IDK?

No, I had digital and analog thermometers in both since neither had a built in thermometer. Well, one has an old dry bulb wet bulb - but it is too confusing compared to the digital and reptile thermometers/hydrometers I have on hand. It was about 12 hours between the storm and when we checked the incubators.

The 106 eggs are looking good, two didn't develop. The 120 eggs are all a loss :(

I candled my eggs at home, I am hand turning. I had a lot more eggs than I'd expected so I set 26 at home. It's day 8 or 9. I have 2 that didn't develop (they were shipped, so 2/6 isn't bad). Two Marans eggs where I wasn't sure, so they stayed in. But I've got one blood ring (I think?) and one with hairline cracks. I'll repair the hairline cracks with wax, I've been so careful...I almost wonder if it happened before I set the eggs, before I even got them.

Cracks can be fixed ...I had one crack a week early sealed it with wax ..still hatched

The Cat shampoo worked perfect .for the mites
.sprayed on their necks and butts 2 days
I didnt look the 2nd day ...I just sprayed them
3rd day no sign of mites at all .
Even my old Roo who was the worst has no mites either

I was just hoping.
I have plenty of naked neck and white jersey giant fertile eggs, but I think we are too far apart for a easy pick up.

Quote: I cleaned all the bedding out today ..So Down to a dirt floor again .I am POOPED !
Sprayed the hen house and nesting boxes with the diluted cat shampoo ..
Not sure what to do with the dirt floor ..May just sprinkle with Poultry dust or Borax ..
Got to treat them again in a week just in case the eggs hatch out ..
May end up cutting the feathers that have the eggs sacks off ..

I'm 1/2 way between Binghamton and Ithaca.
I'm going to talk with one teacher today, she bought a new incubator - but we need to figure out timing for the eggs. With Memorial Day weekend coming up, we don't want anyone hatching over that 4 day break!

Oh my goodness, that is a lot of work. I hope your efforts are successful!
