Yup, ours too. Water was frozen also.

A hen used the next box this morning. Reached in to check for eggs and there was a hen in there!

Later went out with more water and checked the box. HUGE egg. 87oz! Poor thing.

Can't wait to cook that one this morning.

No snow for me, just frost. Everyone ran out as usual. Weather.com keeps saying we could get a little snow this morning but I see no evidence of it. I use heated dog bowls for waterers so water was OK.. Hmm. that reminds me, gotta go fill those waterers again. I have thirsty chickens!!

went out this morning only to find sick chickens

Were the birds kept separate or just put right in? If it's just sneezing could be something else, but could also be a respiratory infection like MG which is easily spread and generally shows up after adding new chickens or during times of stress. If it is, Tylan would work, although denagard would be better ($$, mail order only). I'd post in the emergency forum for much better advice - I know only what I've read there..

Keep in mind that if it's MG, you'll get a lot of advice to cull your whole flock OR you can just treat them, maintain a closed flock and don't sell or rehome any birds. Hopefully that's not what it is!

Featherz: Cool that you have electric to your coop. I have an electric dog water bowl too, but the cord doesn't reach that far.

Hauling water out to the chooks gives me an excuse to go check on them twice or more per day and watch them. We have lantern hooks in the barn, so we go out with warm water and laterns at night and wake everyone up to get a drink and a little snack.

The 87oz egg turned out to be a double yolker. Tasted just as good as the others.

ODEY587: Deworm and Antibiotic sounds like a good formula to me. Good luck and hope your birds do well. We will all be waiting to see how you make out.
