Is anyone doing the New Year's Day hatch? DH and I have been collecting eggs from our BLRW and Silver Am. pens this week to set. Plus DH won a BBS am. auction by rockinpaints and he bought 4 lemon cuckoo orp eggs as a gift for me that I'm excited about. I can't wait for the little peeping fluffy butts!

I am thinking about the NYD hatch. Here is the dilemma:
Have 3 pens for chickens.
Pen 1 = Australorps
Pen 2 = Partridge Chanteclers AND Porcelain D'Uccles (part of the problem come spring
)
Pen 3 = Miscellaneous random hens and my 4 Crele Penedesenca pullets that the cockeral died a few months ago.
So I would like to get rid of something but can't decide what and I do have a 4th pen but that has our Peafowl and Pheasants in it. I really wanted the Pene's the most. UGH! Never enough room!

I am!! I bought some cheap ebay eggs + I have a few of my own eggs to set. So far I have two of my own mutt eggs (hoping for at least 6 more before Sunday - I get a lot of eggs/day, but picking out the big ones that are most likely to be fertile), 6 BR eggs, 6 EE Eggs and 6 RIR eggs. Also getting 12 'araucana' eggs (chance of getting an actual tufted/rumpless chicken). Have two incubators going and hoping SOMETHING will hatch.

Oo, I would have loved some australorp babies. I sold off my aussie a month or so ago. She was a hatchery bird, very nice but perpetually broody. She was driving me nuts with all the broodiness!

A couple of my hens are hatchery girls but most are not. The Roo is from a breeder in Ma. They are starting to lay again. Not many but if you want to try a few let me know.
