NY chicken lover!!!!

The fingerlakes feather club had a meeting yesterday in which my DH went to because I had to work. They're planning another swap this year on April 21st at the auburn TSC. When DH told me that I was disappointed because I was already planning on going to the Columbia county swap that's on that same day. He didn't remember that until after the meeting.

It was below zero here this morning too.

One of the Wyandottes made a break for Doris' coop when the door between the coops was open and we were walking through. It was funny because she looks like a big Doris and Shyanne didn't seem to think anything about the new chicken in the coop. Doris, however, thought that this was an awful big bird

and so when they all were at the feeder, Doris ran away everytime the Wyandotte looked at her.

So we moved they Wyandotte back into her pen after we got chores done.

Going out later to chip more poo out of the pen. At least the poo isn't mushy.

Not happy with the new site. First: I leave off reading on 740 and it opens to 657 EEK and it takes forever to get to 741. I am now at 742.

AND have a had a problem ready my private messages. I know it must have SOMETHING to do with phone line. We are too cheap to set a private line for the computer. ha ha

Our Silkies are laying 6 to 9 eggs daily. I think they think some of the days we have (one in the 40 degree like forecast for Monday) is Spring. Regards, Aria

Son of a gun. I just typed a whole paragraph and the pm message pops up and I click ok and it goes there and I lost the whole thing in the preview screen. DARN!!!!!!!

Tab - I will from now on.

16 eggs today. Though at least half were new layers. Dels are doing good just the same. One is a BR egg or a SLW, I don't know which. I do wish they'd learn to lay it in the nest box. I've put three wooden eggs in the thing hoping they'll see it and get the idea.

It's supposed to go to fifty tomorrow but it's cold tonight. We're getting a new furnace soon and I can't wait. This one sounds like it's really to quit. We were told 4 yr's ago we needed a new one but I kept putting it off for money reasons. Now there is no choice. I can't sleep and worry it will die any minute. It used to be at least once a year we'd need to call and have it worked on.

I'm to old for a wood stove or a pellet stove.

Take care everyone,

Rancher

Of my nearly 40 hens, I am getting roughly 5-8 eggs per day. But today, my 10 little quail girls laid 10 eggs!!

Woot! go little quail go!! :)

I have about 40 hens also and I am getting 12-16 eggs a day, most days - but that's down a lot from the 24 I was getting only about a month ago.. but most of the molters are almost done. Glad I have a pullet coop - they are doing almost all the work. I generally get 10 from them, 2-3 from my leghorns and maybe an egg or two from the rest.

I'm surprised they're laying at all with this crazy weather.

I must confess some of my Dels are nearing three and I'm waiting closer to spring to hopefully snag some eggs from them to hatch. I know they're laying just not so much. I have no where to put more chicks until I move the SFH's and the Marans. Which means finishing the two half hoops.

IN His - Now I've read about quail in the magazines but wonder what they are good for?
