MMMM--annoying rooster and dumplings...soooo goood!

Chilly out this morning and we are forecasted for heavy snow. Hopefully not till after I get home from work tonight. The cheeps are going to be so mad after having been out freeranging the last few days. They look so raggedy right now because they are molting, at least the terrorists are. The divas and silkies are looking splendid, having come through their molt already. I do need to give the silkies a bath and blowdry to really get them looking top notch but that will have to wait till warmer weather, which we arent supposed to have until april. Sigh.

Be safe during this storm everyone. I hope those with weasel problems got the little buggers. Hawk watch is going on here.

Vinegar is good stuff. It has all the wonderful properties Marqsiella said and feeding any vinegar to you chickens is good. But the theory of feeding live vinegar vs pasturized vinegar is that the unpasturized contains live cultures, like yogurt(different organisms, but living). You can make your own living vinegar buy getting apple juice dumping in living vinegar and waiting. You can also do what someone's brother did. Let cider go hard, then wait till it turns to vinegar. Either way, adding vinegar is good!!!

Heading out to Rochester tomorrow. Its where there is an in plan pediatric dentist. I figured to visit my brother and the strong museum while out there.
The other day I saw a raptor flying above our farm that I'm trying to figure out what kind it was. It had a dark belly and was white at the wingtips. Anyone have any ideas? I was thinking maybe the dark phase of the broad-winged hawk, but they migrate.

Tab's have you had chicks shipped? I was wondering how the Rome PO is with chicks. I have 2 batches shipping on the 8th from different locations. How long in advance should I call them. I really do not want to go with the kids to pick up a box of little corpses. Also if this weather keeps up I might have to add a heat pack. 80 deg last year right now go figure. Got to love NY weather.
