That's so cute that they all hang out there! Very nice looking birds!

Thank you for the compliment on my birds, I will let them know. I think it is cute they hang out there too... my Beloved Husband does not. He says

with a sigh and rolled eyes "I'm sure they're not the first chickens to poop on a tractor... I just really wish they would find somewhere different to hang out." I think they find his frustration cute and they sit there even more.

Let the chickens out this am and thought the broody had pushed an egg out from under her. Reached to push it back only to find half a shell. Chicks are hatching. So far 3 Birchens. Will give her a day or so and then remove all the green ee eggs that were laid while she was brooding. Ugh! Same happened with the BM hen. Extra eggs laid by others.

I'm not quite sure what you mean but they do all have the same feeder and water. Though two runs have two feeder but just the one waterer with three nipples.

The Del coop has two roosters , the BM's one, the EE's one and the orps two and the CR's one.

It's been advised to keep two rooster in case one gets killed or whatever.

I'd prefer the sitting hens aren't bothered but have no place to separate all the broodies, so other hens will try to squeeze in the same box or lay an egg while the broody is out doing her business. There are plenty of boxes but for some reason they insist on using the occupied box.

Well after 2 hours of working on it the internet is up and running. The 90 eggs in the bator are staggered batches of 30. 30 went into lock down the night the power went out and we now have pips started tonight. The next 30 are due next week. So far so good.

I've had a sinus head cold all week and not sleeping good has left me run down. I am due for a sonogram in a couple of weeks which I look forward to. The baby be bops around pretty good. Well I'm pretty tired. I'll check in tomorrow morning. Good night.

Dont remember who posted pics of their new coop in progress but it looks great. I was wondering, however, why you want to cover the ceiling? More ventilation is better. Mine dont bother with the rafters as they prefer the nice wide roosts they have.

Hi Pharmchick - that would be my coop. I have gone back and forth on whether or not to put a ceiling in at around 6'. The ventilation was already a concern, but we thought we'd cut venting "doors" into the ceiling. The two biggest reasons I wanted a ceiling was to (1) keep the birds off the rafters and randomly pooping everywhere; and (2) to keep their heat in and closer to their roosting poles in the colder months.

I welcome any thoughts on this little dilemna...
