Well it was suppose to be a coop building day. Instead it turned into another trip to home depot for more wood now have all i'm going to need I think. But when I got home I unloaded some wood went to go off roading in yard with mother inlaws truck and I got it stuck lol. Now after I get the coop done I have some 1-1.5 feet ruts to get out of the yard. I forgot one area of yard stays pretty wet except when it is real dry. Wife was worried her mom would get mad she was just like oh well its a truck. Helps I'm the favorite child she never had lol. so now I have like probably 500 dollars of wood on front porch when I should be having it started in back yard at least grrr.

I also found out the spot I wanted to build my shed is a little too small. It was an old coop or slaughter house foundation but it's cracked too much on one side more than I though so going to move coop closer to house at end of drive way since we don't use the parking area back there.

Rancher give me some time to let wife cool off over the 11 chicks I just got at tsc the other day and i'll drive up and get some if you haven't found homes for them all. I figure i'm building 8x12 coop and atm only have 8 heavy's 2 silkies and 12 bantams so still have room for like 5 more maybe little more since some smaller birds in there. If you have a roo problem I may take a few of those and just axe them later unless you would rather them go to a perm home not a belly home : ) i'm thinking of building another smaller coop for if I get too many roos or problem chickens just a little 4x8. since I think I bought too much wood.

No such thing as "too much wood" only "too few chickens".

sounds good to me but wife has a problem with that lol. I got to hear "I thought we was only getting 6 chicks". every time I buy more or talk about getting more chickens. Then I turn around and remind her of her words not mine "It's your(me) money, you work I stay at home with kids." and she just huffs since she says it all the time cause I don't spend money on myself normaly.

Some beautiful chicks, everyone -- and some very nice photography work! Thanks for sharing.

Cooped Up Chick,

Hi there. Thanks for the suggestion...... a couple of nights ago I actually posted on here that I was considering chicken wire as a "ceiling" option, as I thought it would allow for circulation of air but keep the hens off the rafters. It was mentioned that the wire grid gets lots of cobwebs and debris stuck in it.
