NY chicken lover!!!!

Well I'm still confused but no matter.

I've got EE's hatching and I'll be keeping anything with lav in it or something other than black. I'll be sticking a couple of EE's in with the marans and see what happens. The only two crossing with a Del and Dom laid brown and white.

Day 21 and 18/30 with a few working. One marans out and one nearly out. I'll give them the rest of the day.

As for the chives, thanks for the advice. I think I may start my herb gardening around my Rose of Sharon trees. Also mints around the runs, since chickens don't seem to bother it and it should look nice edging them rather than mud. Though I do like to keep a trench around them too so water is drawn away.

Morning Everyone,
Well still no apple crates. However I was on CL the other day and found an ad for shipping crates in Camillus, $10 a piece if you get 3 or more. 3 is about all I'll be able to fit in my SUV so I'm going to pick up a few. I need to start creating some kind of house for the ducks. I'll be getting my ducklings finally on the 10th of May. I can't wait. I've gotta be able to do something with these crates, they look pretty solid. This aughta be interesting!

Breella---what a cool looking chick! Love the color and pattern.

Rancher---mint huh? Maybe I will try it around the terrorist run since you said they leave it alone. At least it would make it look better (and give it a minty fresh odor!).

Okay--someone gave me some rose of sharon plants. I have no idea what to do with them (other than digging a hole and dropping them in it.) Anyone here have any advice? I usually kill plants but I was told these things are indestructable and they spread like crazy. So, enlighten me my peeps!

Got a good look at my questionable rir babies. I do believe they have a rose comb and thats whats throwing me off. I have to look up pics of ones with rose combs to see if I can tell if they are boys or girls. The other two are very clear, one boy and one girl. They have straight combs. Of course I have no clue about the silkie babies. Until they crow or lay an egg.

Welcome to May! Another beautiful day and I have to spend it indoors working. Hope some of you get to enjoy it.

I have these & I love them. You can trim them to the size you want. You can either keep them small & make a sort of hedrgrow if you want or just let them grow. I have seen some as big as trees !! They do reseed themselves and are very easy to grow. I plan on taking some of the tons of babys I have and plant around the chicken coop so they can grow large and provide shade :)

Right now I have them planted on the side of my shed. The blooms are very pretty as well

Funny, I was just wondering this. I am covering an EE/LH(from 1 white layer parent and 1 blue layer parent) and covering with a buckeye(light brown eggs) and was wondering what I'd get. I figured all cockerels!!

Time will tell.
