NY chicken lover!!!!

I forgot about the EE topic. EE's can be bred using many different breeds. Some breeds lay better than others so how well an EE will lay depends on what they were bred from. I bred mine using leghorns and silver ameraucana. The leghorns for me were laying machines, but the silver ameraucana are not. I was looking for a more productive blue/green egg layer. I also crossed the silvers with delaware. The leghorn cross had a pale blue/green egg color while the del cross has a more distinct blue/green egg color and both crosses lay well for me. Ginny has some of the leghorn crosses and Juanita has some of the del crosses from me. I haven't bred any yet this season, now I'm going to definately need to set another hatchl.

The little booger parked its butt against my uterus and bladder curled up and crossed its ankles. They didn't even get all the spine measurements. Maybe I'll find out what I'm having in a couple of weeks.

They certainly can show a lot of detail on these things can't they? We never did figure out how my son got a Game Boy in there? Good thing they didn't have the X Box back then or DW would have really been hurting.

It does explain his game addiction though.

Thanks for the (shavings) responses. I was going to go to TSC, now maybe I won't.

JJ Feeds in what town, Lynzi?

I can go to Nightingale Mills in Marcellus, too, I guess...

Took a ride out to Camillus today for the shipping crates. Was only able to fit two in my car. I'll take another right out tomorrow for 2 more and then start building over the weekend. Someone is eager to get the project going....

I'd need six of those babies side by side and each with it's own pop hole for a Chicken Maternity Ward, what with all the broodies I have.

BTW another Birchen Marans chick hatched in the incubator last night. Plus I took one out of from under a hen yesterday after noon. No more though any hatch and the hens keep them. I've no room in the brooder.

JJFeeds is located in Lafayette, right off Route 20 (6320 Palmer Rd, LaFayette, NY 13084), but if you have one closer to you try that one. And I would try to buy from local business than TSC if you can.

They have plenty at Taylor Rental in Camillus, they'll sell at $10 for 5 or more! I'm heading back out there today. I wish I could fit more than 2 in my suv but the Princess must have a royal throne to sit on.

Grrrrrrrrr so I'm pretty much ready to plywood the walls today. I checked work last night for any bins that I was going to use and they was out. If they don't have any tonight looks like I will be attacking homedepot with plastic again. :( the plywood on bins is like 47x45 ish 3/4 inch. They charge only 3 dollars for a full bin 6 sheets. I have a few pieces but not nearly enough.

Sorry to hear about your loss of a good friend.

Grats on some more bm's hatching rancher.

Well back to the coop.

I use Nobel shavings. I get them for $4.50 a bag 3.5 compressed cubic feet or something like that. I use them for the horse stalls too.

Ditto on Nobels. They're a nice large "chip" and less likely to get matted down IMO. I think they help to keep thing aerated. If you can give them a raking every so often that helps too.
