NY chicken lover!!!!

If anyone is interested, we have a 4 week old partridge silkie in need of a good home. I know there are some folks on here who are interested in silkies and I have a BYC classified ad that I can not close in order to open a new one. The close link is not working at the moment. My daughter is cutting back on colors and not breeding partridge at the moment. Pickup preferred at 12601. Please PM if you are interested.

Anyone near Highland want to sell me a young silkie hen?

We have silkie chicks that are not sexable yet. I'll keep you posted if any of them turn out to be potential broodies.

I was going to go visit my gram but decided tomorrow would be better. I'm going to not do as many chores today and try to relax a little after being busy yesterday. I may end up with mandatory overtime this weekend. I'll find out when I go in to work in the morning. Well off to the barn. Hope everyone is having a good day.

With all due respect, not even if you paid me. They are an invasive species like so many other things from the orient. My eyes hurt just looking at it.

(be aware I just like to rag on silkies, I don't really hate them. Well ok I do but ..............)

Great job it's turning out nice!

I see the dog and chickens are enjoying their duck TV!
Haha! Yes, they do look like they are watching duck TV! So cute!
Well my "experiment" with the duck pool worked!!!

My husband bought me a new hose yesterday while he was at Sam's Club so I decided to cut two short pieces off the one I had and see if I can get the small amount of water that trickles down the side of out yard, into the pool and it worked!! The pool was completely filled this morning. So now I just need to cut a hole just big enough for the hose to fit thru, and another one for another piece to drain back into the woods where the water was going, level out the pool somehow, and it'll be all set for the ducks when we start letting them out to free range!!

I'm so happy for you that your stream-pond-stream worked out!!
My ducklings learned where home was, and they were putting themselves in at night. Yesterday I moved their coop (four feet) and they no longer knew where home was. They spent the night out, beside the pool. They found their home the next morning and took a nap.

You got pics?

Here are some pics. The hose isn't "locked" into holes in the pool yet. Just tested this last night to see if it would even work...

The small amount of water that runs down the side of the mountain/yard:

How I got the hose to stay:

Into the pool:

For such a small trickle of water it sure does fill up fast! This is the second fill from today after I emptied it out once to move the pool.

You can see the hose in the background of this one. The water will empty out thru that and back into the woods.

My next step is getting this darn pool level! Right now it's on a huge board that was already in the woods. I dragged it out last summer and placed it in front of the stream so my son could stand on it while he's hunting for critters. I have three big rocks under the right hand side of it but it still needs to be propped up more. I'll probably get some bricks or cylinder blocks from lowes because as you can see it's still not level.

I'm hoping now that they have a good view view of the yard they'll learn their territory by the time we start letting them out. They're so fast there's no way I'm going to attempt to chase them down and risk losing them in the woods or something. LOL
