Well I removed all the eggs from the BR nestbox. Candled them all to ensure there was no development before cracking them open. I figured I'd candle, if anything looked "alive" I'd put them in the incubator with the other dozen and crack open the rest to see if I can tell if any are fertile. I put two in the incubator because the yolks didn't "whole" anymore so I'm assuming those were fertile and development has begun. As far the rest: the first I cracked open the yolk wasn't whole and some veining had begun. Next one, the yolk was broken upon adding it to the bowl. Next few were whole and cracked like unfertile eggs, two or three others has spread in the bowl and one of which the fertile "spot" was larger than the spot you'd check to see if an egg is actually fertile. So I'm thinking my chances of hatching any are good considering most of the eggs were fertile. We'll see. I have 13 in the bator starting today. Won't be adding any more. Can't even imagine what these chicks (if any hatch) will look like. LOL they'll be Orp and BR mixes. And if anyone wants this BR hen you can have her! FREE! PM me. I can't take her attitude anymore. Otherwise she's going on CL.

Still debating on whether or not I should sell Peanut Butter and honey. I really like them but would like to have the extra room just in case I need it. Peanut Butter is the nicest roo and Honey just lays eggs all the time. I have gotten an egg from her everyday the past 3 weeks I think. That's pretty good for a bantam cochin.

Aww, they don't take up much room! I have SonOfPeanutButter and he's just a little guy. =) I think you should keep PB!

Stony ~ That. Is. Awesome! Man, I wish I could build like that! Now what will you do with that exactly. I've seen those on Etsy/Pinterest and always wondered how people used them seeing as how they're not full "camper" but like you mentioned I believe, has just enough space for a bed?? Do people take/use them camping?

Gramma - I have a friend that I trade hatching eggs and chick/chickens to. I'd given her marans hatching egg and more today.

I expect or hope to only do pullets and keep all roos from now on. Once I start processing them myself.

I went out this afternoon and found the little frizzle chick inside the empty feeder, poor thing. Seemed no worse for wear.

Lynzii - I have a BR that is broody but have yet to give her eggs. If I can figure out where to put her by herself I may.

Country boy - I like your birds but with this weather they'd be drown here.

I've opened two window so I can go back and read who said what.

Hi all! It is so darn wet here. Flood warnings out again. Brings me back to our 1972 flood. It did nothing but rain then too. Some of my chickens don't mind being out in the rain. My concern. Do they dry out after being wet day after day? The coop is well ventilated and dry. They look so , well, wet.
This is my first year of having my garden in by the end of May in a long while. My corn is 2 feet tall but with all the rain, the stalks keep falling over. I keep taking a gob of mud to support them back up again.

My big girls are out in the downpours all day. They look like they were dunked in a pond. They dry just fine in the coop.

They look like they have black capes on they are so drenched

And the tots you gave me are out in the rain as well. Not all day like the big girls but they do venture out.

I leave it up to the hens to decided if they want to go out or not. Their pop door is automatic and opens at dawn closes at dusk

thanks. People camp in much smaller campers. Teardrops are down right tiny. This is super roomy compared to a teardrop.

The bed goes crossways up front. Basically ending where the ornate crossmember is at the roof. Leaving more than 1/2 of the camper for other stuff.

Today was so gross! Stupid weather. Thankfully my horse is boarded in a place with an indoor arena and I got to work with him a little today.

Ahh ok I see. I've never been camping, I don't think I could do it without having electricity for a blow dryer and straightener! LOL Then again, now a days with the improvements to vehicles, I actually have an outlet in my dodge, so I think I'd survive.

we never camp with electricity. More than 20 years ago I restored a huge slide in truck camper and we used that a few years but have tent camped since then. In both cases the camper or the tent is a place to sleep and ride out thunderstorms. Other than that you will find me at the fire eating and drinking coffee
