NY chicken lover!!!!

Same here, but mine want to go to their old coop. It's been a 15 minute chase the last couple nights with two of us.

Chris

Well yesterday, after altering their coop a little, I decided to move their coop over near the chicken coops since that's thats where they spend their last few moments each night- BIG mistake! I was out there last night until 10:30 trying to get them in! Finally when I gotten two in, thought I lost my drake, I came back in, gave him time to come out of the woods, come closer to the coop, I opened the run a crack and he squeezed himself him! I hit the hay right after! I was so tired from all that running around. I will never move their coop again! Lol I just went out there a few mins ago and they were all in- thank god!

I am sorry to hear about your mom. Mine passed years ago. I never thought I'd live to see the day.

Keep in mind that I trade chickens. I'd even trade for frozen berries if you're ever interested in doing so.

Give your mom a hug for me,

rancher

SALLY - I'm sorry your mom has to go thru this. My best friend is, too, and my mother had breast cancer 15 years ago. Thank God, she's still going strong. I hope your mom has a return to better health. Take care...

Congrats.

Her sister hasn't started yet. Soon I hope.

I too crush the shells and mix them with the grit. I crush them with a 2x2 and get them as small as I can. I figure they won't eat what they can't use.

Thanks to Rancher and Chick Princess for advice on offering crushed shells. Is it too early to feed extra calcium to the younger pullets I have? I've heard you don't want to supplement calcium to younger birds, but can't remember the age when it's good to start. I figured laying time...

He looks very relaxed and so does the bird -- way to go!

ke5hde - nice work on the rehab outhouse project! Super re-use vision!

Thanks to all for the shared enthusiasm over Helen's 1st eggs. We're happy! I probably won't be checking in the next couple of days, schedule depending. Everyone have a great upcoming weekend!!!

Ok I know I've said how much I love Gru, but he just made me so much happier I got him! I went outside for a min, walked into the backyard, saw this HUGE turkey vulture fly down from a branch (in the woods) and get something that I'm sure it had it's eyes on, all of a sudden my lovely Gru started clucking away to warn the girls. Love him!

Been off for a few days trying to finish up inside of barn before I have another started. Can I say I am failing chicken/duck/turkey math terribly. LOL! I am supposed to be sleeping right now for a sleep study but am on the internet instead.
My ducks are late night partiers too usually about 930 when then go in their house. Lynzi I have a splash orpington roo and he does a great job with protecting his girls. I love the big thing.
Sally sorry about your mom. If you are close enough and want to sell some turkeys let me know.
To everyone who has new layers congrats.
Going to cut it short it is a pain typing on the iPad should have brought My wireless keyboard for it.
