NY chicken lover!!!!

Can't sleep, 3am. Little girl was up and put her back to bed. From the looks on Facebook, we are hammered with flash flooding again. Someone reported 5" of rain by 11:15pm. Pics of Cortland Walmart, Lowes and Price Chopper all have water in them. Water in the streets over the curbs. Hope everyone out there is ok!

Holy Cow, it rained last night! DH is a volunteer fireman and he was called out at 10 pm and he never made it home until 5:30 this morning. The major road from Corning to the NASCAR racing at Watkins Glen has been closed, both ways until the bridges have been inspected. I'm sure they are right on it due to the races but DH said it was a mess. Our creek rose 5-6 feet but is coming down. I'm so glad I built my chicken coop a couple of feet off the ground (although it wasn't flooded. What strange summer weather we are having!

Morning!!
TGIF!! I cannot sit at this desk any longer this week! I felt like Friday would never get here!

We must have missed all the rain. However it IS extremely humid here today so it must have rained over night, but I didn't wake up to anything and I'm a very light sleeper. Guess I better go let the birdies out. My poor lavender boy is out there trying to crow, sounds like he's losing his voice! LOL
This should help you. I end up posting this a lot, I should probably just save the link lol. First duck is a male, second is a female. You can tell really easy by their quacks.

Yup, thats exactly how my 3 sound. The only one that has a strong actual quack is the female.

My best friend is up there for fire/rescue for the glen and said there were storms last night. Sort of glad I didn't go this year tho wearing turnout gear in the rain is much better than last year in the hot sun.

We are finally getting some much needed rain. The ground is soaking it up so fast since it was so dry. I am just happy for a soaking rain that doesn't require me to use e sprinkler for once :)

Miquwid - couldn't do a video cuz my phone is about die, but here an up close and personal pic of each of their bills. One yellow and brown bean, two bluish greenish beaks with black beans and one slate with a caramel bean. There ya have it, three drakes and a duck! Just my luck!

Well they are beautiful! I love the yellow bill.
I feel bad for the poor pit, he looks so sad.

After only 4 days back to work, I'm wore out. I actually went back to my old job in a lumber mill and forgot how much of a beating it was.

The wife called yesterday in hysterics. Our pit got hit by one of her friends backing up in our driveway. After a trip to the vet, turned out he was ok. Some road rash from being under the bumper of her car and pretty sore. She said he was lucky he didn't get the tire. Poor boy is 12yrs old and 110lbs. I'm glad he isn't smaller. The woman that hit him was a total mess after doing it and so was I. She did take care of the vet bill for us and I'm just glad it was nothing too serious, I'm not ready for him to go just yet.

Omg I'm glad he's okay, that is super scary.
My drake and three of his wives.

They are beautiful UGH I'm so jealous I want ducks LOL. Next year though.

Wow flooding sucks not too bad here, but I've been slowly filling in my backyard so it's been so much better.

It's so great to not have to buy eggs anymore, and my girls eggs are super yummy. Before my production layers started laying last week I've been feeding all the eggs from my three layers to my son so I really didn't know how good they were until now OMG I've never wanted to eat so many eggs before, I'm now craving them LOL.

Well gotta run a few errans and then go to work.

Have a great day! and try to stay dry.

I've had different egg breakfasts every morning for the last week. I've made quiesh ( can't spell it), scrambled, egg - in - window, sunnyside both up and down. I realize now that I haven't made a classic omelett?!

Staying home all day today watching the rain.
Keith Urban concert is tonight at FLCC and traffic is expected to be HORRENDOUS in Canandaigua the second half of the day. Staying away from that!
Even the chickens are standing in the door of the coop watching the rain.

We had a few hours of much needed rain here as well. Its since passed. The big girls were out enjoying the rain while the tots were inside the coop watching. I know that my plants were very thankful of the rain. They all seemed greener & perkier :)

grr stupid leghorn. How do you break a chicken from laying out side the coop. We opened the coop up at 11 and the dang bird beelines it straight to the barn and is moveing around in an open crate that we found the other eggs in. I went to pick her up and she got by me. I need a run this is getting old. I think my double yolker from her that we found in barn is from her skipping a day in the coop then next day laying in the barn. Its wierd where she lays in the box is V'ed not flat and no straw or anything in it maybe i need a V box in my coop hmm. Or more nest boxes i have 4 boxes and only like 8 layers atm.
