NY chicken lover!!!!

No doubt , they're mean things, really. Nothing worse than a drunken silkie.

Ya know now that I think about it, that might be a way to take the edge off processing chickens. Get them drunk first! Might even tenderize them. 'Course if you're both drunk that could be a disaster.

That would be one interesting YouTube video if you both were drunk!

Well my EE's go broody easily as do my Marans and BRs and I even have a Del who is broody now. I gave her some eggs I believe to be Buckwheats cuz I want some more frizzles. Plus three EE's since I'm exchanging the lave amer roo for an Araucana roo.

Well Those are some breeds I will have to consider. Thanks I really want to hatch next but want to try a broody if at all possible.
Well no pips or zips or cracks in my eggs yet. Don't hear anything either coming from the incubator.

Today is day 20. If anything happens between now and tomorrow morning I will not be getting any work done tomorrow! LOL Glad I decided to put the incubator in my office. I'll just move my mouse to my PC every once in a while to keep my PC from going idle. I have three days left anyway, what do they care. I found out Friday they're having a get together at a restaurant in CT for my co-worker. They labeled it for her and not me because my boss did not think I would be able to come to CT on such a short notice, but since I just decided last night to switch from going next weekend to this weekend I will be attending. Can't wait. I'll only be working 8-10 Friday morning - again, moving my mouse around every so often. LOL It's so stupid. I dont even know why we have to work on our last day. What are they gaining?!? Owell, I've been taking my time with everything I've been doing there.

I really hope these eggs hatch!

The suspense is KILLING ME!!!

Well good luck with the suspense and the hatch anticipation is a pain.
Moving the mouse around at work well at least your hand will get some exercise. But soon you won't have to do it anymore.

As of right now I'm working on the 24th, 31st and the 1st. I've got the 25th off cause of my son's birthday. I'm planning on taking the kids on the 28th (wed) as long as the weather is good, our rain date is mon 26th.
I have a mini Vacation from the 22nd - 26th so I would like to do this before monday. But whatever you decide I can be there and meeting at the chickens is prob a good idea.

For those who sell hatching eggs, how much do they go for? I'm wondering for all the eggs I'm now getting, and I can tell the difference between my BR and Orp eggs, if I should try selling some orpington hatching eggs. The would be from an english splash roo x lavender hen and buff hen.

So, sadly all 5 eggs under pearl are duds. Totally clear. Of the 15 eggs I had in the incubator two were bad, there are a few of them that I don't think are doing well but with my lack of a good light stops me from seeing well through the brown eggs.

If I remove the eggs under Pearl one by one and replace them with some incubator eggs should she be ok? Also once the incubator chicks hatch can I just put them in with Pearl?

Well the 25th is the Queens birthday too. We have plans to take her since her Dad is working that day. Unless things change.

I've done it. Surprisingly it didn't bother me. Once the feathers are off, they are just like any other whole chicken you buy in the store. Pulling out the innards isn't hard, you just have to be careful you don't rip the intestines, but that wasn't hard to do.

I haven't told you but I've got a BM roo, nice white in him. The other three I have are not as nice. One clearly has red. Plans to send them to the auction on Sunday. Have one chick coming along. The thing is you can't really tell how nice they are til they're ready to eat.

Of course I have been reading in PP that one should work toward type first. The main roo I have is a good size and I'll work to his size.

this may or may not work. It depends on what kind of mother she is. I have two chicks that started with one hen, got taken over by another and then finished and mothered by a third.

I also have two chicks with three mothers. So she may well accept what you give her. Oh and give them to her at night and in the dark.

I can do the 24th much easier than the 25th ..
That is 3 so far - Gramma , Rancher & miquwid
WHO ELSE CAN COME ? TO MEET EVERYONE ? SAT 24th ?

I may be there the 24th, my parents are going to be up that weekend to bring my youngest sister here for College (she's going to OCC) and my mother wanted to go to the fair on Friday now *sigh* and I work all day Friday and have to work very early Saturday morning. (because I specifically had my Saturday schedule changed so I could spend time with my parents, who now want to go visit a friend of my mothers over by Herkimer on Saturday)

Morning!
I have a pip in my lone silkie egg!! And it's cheep cheeping away!

I just hope the others make it (or at least 1 of them) so this little one isn't alone. I'm assuming this chick that pipped will more than likely not fully hatch until tomorrow. Thats how it went with my last silkie egg I took from a hen and placed under the bator. I am NOT going to get any work done today! LOL
