Morning!
I have a pip in my lone silkie egg!! And it's cheep cheeping away!

I just hope the others make it (or at least 1 of them) so this little one isn't alone. I'm assuming this chick that pipped will more than likely not fully hatch until tomorrow. Thats how it went with my last silkie egg I took from a hen and placed under the bator. I am NOT going to get any work done today! LOL

Looks like I won't make it to the fair. This weekend we will be camping near Albion for 5 days & while that gets us closer to the fair I take my dogs camping and I won't lock them up in my pop up camper all day & I can't bring them to the fair. And the last weekend I am working all weekend.

well there is always next year

So, sadly all 5 eggs under pearl are duds. Totally clear. Of the 15 eggs I had in the incubator two were bad, there are a few of them that I don't think are doing well but with my lack of a good light stops me from seeing well through the brown eggs.

If I remove the eggs under Pearl one by one and replace them with some incubator eggs should she be ok? Also once the incubator chicks hatch can I just put them in with Pearl?

If all the eggs were due to hatch on the same day, you could do the switch. But, if you put chicks under her, and the eggs aren't due to hatch in a day or so, she will leave the eggs to start teaching the chicks how to eat.

Eowyn has gone broody again so I gave up and gave her three eggs. If they hatch, fine. If not, fine. Worset that can happen is I have some silkies for sale in the spring. Everyone keeps asking for hens so we shall see what happens. My randy heritage rir boys are definately at the jerk stage. They are chasing all the girls around. What I find interesting is they don't spar with each other like my other roos did. Bill didny go in the coop last night when dh locked up. He was there this morning when I went out and was happy to be back with the flock. I hope he learned his lesson.bill and roger are going to be enormous roos.

Egg production is down in the terrorist coop. I think they are molting and we have another egg eater. We will eat her when we figure out who it is. I want to can some chicken this fall so that's how we will reduce our numbers.

Busy crotching xmas gifts and working every shift I can get. Hope everyone has a god day.
