NY chicken lover!!!!

houseofknauss good luck with the job! I think it's more important to have a job you love and one that you can come home from and not worry about rather than one where you make more money...I would rather have my sanity :)

Also--with the cabbage mine HATE it. I left a head of cabbage hanging in their coop for a couple of days and they barely touched it.
Sometimes the outer leaves are so rubbery, they can't peck through them. I cut the cabbage in half with the insides up so they can get to the sliced part.

Mine eat cabbage ...as a matter of fact ...they have been pecking the cabbage in our garden ..It is open now . not fenced in .
Only cabbage , Brussels sprouts , broccoli , turnip greens , beets , carrots , some swiss chard left alive .
We only give them cabbage in the winter or when we have a head left if the frig that is on its way out .

At the end of the season I open the gate and let them scratch and work the soil. They eat what they will if anything is left. They ate all the parsley. If figure they know what they like. They left the Butternut squashes alone though. Couldn't peck through the tough skin. There were peck marks but we still cut it up and ate it. They gave up before getting to the middle.

I got my new chicken coop today, for my Orps!!! Another "StonyKill Creation". I love this! Can't wait to move my birds into tonight. (I say move them in because I'm sure they'll roost on top of their old coop waiting for me to open the door).
