That is cool . Hope you like it or the kids like it. You must post a video.

OMG, the eggs were here today. I was up early so went to the po to pick them up. I had given my mail lady a heads up and my phone number and she called about 7:30. They are resting on the table for now.

I'll be collecting some of my own eggs to put in the incu with them. I just don't want to run and empty incubator. Some EE's I think. Anyone interested in free chicks? These may be Olive eggs since some are with a BM rooster.

Morning All,
I'm actually beginning to enjoy winter now that the temps arent in the teens and it's not so windy. But of course with that said, everything is wet and muddy.

Owell
Think I'll pull out my lights today and get my front porch done. Maybe I'll sting some extra around the chicken yard. Need to take a ride to the store to get some more. I need to finish grooming my angora bun first. He's a mess. I started last night but it was getting dark. I'll bring in inside to finish him today. I'm thinking of using the wool the line my nest boxes in the coop. Since the girls always seem to kick the shavings out of them. Maybe if I put some wool in them they won't bother.

You must buy some cheap light to string around the yard if you can. They look so nice when you go out to close up the chickens.

Buy yourself one of these and you can turn them off in the morning.

You plug in your lights into it and then when you want you can switch it off.

That is a good idea Rancher! I have one of those multi-surge protector strip plugs out side that has an On/Off switch on it. I placed it out there since I have two plugs out there currently - one for the extension that runs to the shed and the other for the light bulb in chicken coop. This way when I go out there I just flip the switch instead of unplugging.

Morning all. Little warmer today and there was only a little skim ice on the outside waterers. The cheeps were pounding on the doors to be let out. My dd came over yesterday and helped me put up the tree and decorate. I did the cleaning and she did most of the decorating. It was a big help as I am still tired from work. I did go online and found a pair of muckboots I will order. They are on sale right now with free shipping. I dont buy shoes or boots that often so I dont mind paying a little more for a good quality product because I will use it until it dies. Im not one of those who has to have new every so often. I drive my cars till death and everything else gets used until beyond repair.

Stony--knew you wouldnt let me down!

Rancher--good luck with your eggs. I wont start till march. Ordering more rir heritage breed eggs then.

Pyxis--hows your hatch going?

I have some very nice splash silkies available if anyone is interested. They are young yet, hatched in june and august. I think one of the older ones is going to be a roo. Nice feet on all, super fluffy, nice markings. Legolas keeps his offspring in line even though the two older ones are now bigger than he is. Just throwing this out there in case anyone was looking.

Back to the pharm again today. Hoping its slow so I dont have to kill myself getting things done. Have a good day all!

I am actually looking for some more silkies, though if I remember correctly you're a little far :( I may just have to wait and hatch some in the spring or pick up chicks. Stupid winter puts a damper on my hatching and slows down morehens disease...

Morning all.  Worked a double yesterday and didnt get home till 9.  Slept in this am while dh let the cheeps out.  Working retail this time of year just sucks your soul out of you

Tell me about it I feel I need a new path at this point I know my education both past and present has been centered around the fact that I work in the service industry thankfully with animals but I don't know if I can take it anymore people just walk all over you. They throw money at me and try to get their way, I feel like I sell my soul everyday. I thrill is gone LOL (Berry White I think).

I THINK PEOPLE IN GENERAL HAVE CHANGED. TEACHING COLLEGE LEVEL...
IS NOT THE SAME. Amy, It is getting closer to retirement. Doing more of the things we love to do. We work...because the money is good and that is what we need to do ....I guess?? Our Silkies have been laying 4 5 6 eggs daily. I have 10 hens and one Splash beautiful rooster.

I use one in each of the runs so I can turn off the christmas lights and NOT turn off the heater to the waterer.
