NY chicken lover!!!!

Stony--knew you wouldnt let me down!

Rancher--good luck with your eggs. I wont start till march. Ordering more rir heritage breed eggs then.

Pyxis--hows your hatch going?

I have some very nice splash silkies available if anyone is interested. They are young yet, hatched in june and august. I think one of the older ones is going to be a roo. Nice feet on all, super fluffy, nice markings. Legolas keeps his offspring in line even though the two older ones are now bigger than he is. Just throwing this out there in case anyone was looking.

Back to the pharm again today. Hoping its slow so I dont have to kill myself getting things done. Have a good day all!

I plan to order eggs from Fred in march. He has RIR's but I'm interested in the BR's. I plan to begin weighing and culling more than I have been.

Not for me. I need to hatch earlier so I can hatch more breeds. I only have one incubator. The plan is to hatch at least four different breeds and lots of them so I can grow them out to choose better birds.

I have to cull hard on my BM's if I'm to get them to where they should be. I've gotten some nice eggs but I also have hens with copper in them. I'll have to hatch bunches of them. If folks don't mind the copper I hope to sell the unacceptable hens.

If not fall will be a blood bath or chickens around here.

That is a good idea Rancher! I have one of those multi-surge protector strip plugs out side that has an On/Off switch on it. I placed it out there since I have two plugs out there currently - one for the extension that runs to the shed and the other for the light bulb in chicken coop. This way when I go out there I just flip the switch instead of unplugging.
LYNZI, CAN YOU TELL ME HOW TO POST PHOTOS? I have message from Stonny: tool bar top of reply box insert image and upload from computer to BYC. This is not working.
Please help? Aria

Has anyone used this type of bird bath heater? $15.99 at CM on line. Thought it might be good for using in those black rubber tubs or metal pans.

Any thoughts. It might save having to break out the ice each day.

I have: Top of reply box little house with sunshine left of smiley box......
There is no little house. I cannot hit reply. What can I do? HELP

After 10 years I bought myself a new Genesis Hovabator...its wonderful! Love the big window and the temp & humidity set in the window so I don't need extra thermometers or humidity equipment.

I use it to hatch in.

I also got myself 3 Cayuga ducks...I don't have a pic of them yet, cause they don't stand still long enough...a little afraid of me, so I let them be.

I'm letting go my lavendar Wyandotte project birds. Now with the ducks, something has to go. They are the F2's of my project to produce lavendar Wyandottes. Their offspring will be the F3's and the 3rd year of breeding. I have 1 lavendar pullet, 1 split pullet, their split brother, and the father of the three. If anyone is innterested pm me. I'm only asking $40 for all 4. Their next chicks should be 50% lavendar.

I have black & split to silver partridge hens for sale. $20 each.

And last but not least, odd assortment of cockerels & roosters, black copper, Coronations and a split to lavendar Wyandotte cockerel.

RANCHER CAN YOU TELL ME HOW TO INSERT PHOTO? ARIA

Do you see the little icon in the strip with the smiley face? The one that has the mountain and moon ? Click on that. Then follow the instructions. Click on up load files. That should open up your " picture library" you have loaded on your computer. Click on the chosen pic.

Well now you need to get a brooder set up. I really hate chicks that don't begin to lay until late in the summer. I've got a BM pullet that is not yet laying.
