NY chicken lover!!!!

Rancher - the eggs you bought off Ebay, you said you went to the post office to pick them up? They didn't get delivered to your house? I'm thinking about buying some duck eggs but want to know how the shipping works, will they ship directly to my house?

I know who my letter carrier is and e-mailed her about the eggs and had her call me when they came in. You can go to the PO and ask them to call you when they arrive. I know the mail arrives at the po around 6 - 6:30 am.
I also have called them to see if chicks had come in.

If they are nice they will call you.

I came on to say my turner isn't working. I went on line to find a new motor. One place wanted $36 for just the motor. I won't tell you what I said to myself. So I checked with INCUBATOR WAREHOUSE where I got my incu and turner. They had one for $9.99. Total $15.99. It should be here in a couple of days. Til then I'll have to turn them by hand. I usually turn then in the turner the first few day anyhow. Since the turner doesn't really "turn" them.

Aria i hope you figured it out, certain smartphones n tablets can be tricky but what lynzi said should work fine from the computer.

Country Boy I'm so sorry for your loss, but glad you got the weasel.

I'm super nervous about the weasels but there are a lot of ferral cats around so that might keep them at bay and so far those cats don't bother the chickens. Plus my neighbors dog kills a lot of critters. Once the chickens are locked up we let the dogs out of their yard and hopefully get something.

Featherz - I'm sorry for your loss. Sometimes I think they just drop to get us all upset.

Country boy, Lord have mercy, how was the weasel getting in? Did you use the tree rat trap set up I've seen on line? I've not had any trouble so I don't put one up, even though we live on the creek.

I have been seeing a flock of turkey's out there lately though. Big suckers. I don't go back to bother them as I think they're a good sign.

We saw a cat running from our house when we came home one night. Don't know why it was here. We have no cats. Unless it was Skinny Pete.

He was a stray from long ago. Showed up nearly starved to death. We took him and got in fixed. He stayed for a while but then one day just left. Last time I saw him he was coming out of the woods but hissed when I tried to get near him.

I'm tempted to get a cat but I just don't want to deal with it. Then it's buying litter and food and sifting poop and just yuk. Outdoor cats tend to get hurt alot too. Ticks and fights. Nah, not up to it. If I had a barn I might.

I'm getting the hatching itch, I think I'm just bored and want a little duckling to play with. Was thinking of ordering some eggs on eBay. I've never tried hatching duck eggs tho, that's probably be an epic fail for me. I can't even get chick eggs to hatch lol

The scale the wall of the coop and crawl threw the air space between the rafters. And I used a box trap on this one with chickens he already killed as bait. I cut open the chickens and laid there livers on top of their bodies. Weasels love liver.

I had a friend give eggs for my broody. Turned out they were duck eggs. She got them back.

I saw some KC's on e-bay. I plan to get some come spring.

If you've got an incubator and a place to brood, go for it.

I'd like to set up a brooder with one of the oil filled heaters like I posted earlier. I think it would be safer. I have a hoop coop in the yard I might turn into one for when they no longer fit the bin they start out in. I'll post pics if I do.

Evening all. Got a paltry 4 eggs today from 19 hens. Bunch of slackers are messing with my egg customers. I need these girls to lay eggs!

Stony and County---nice to see you boys have been busy keeping the critter count down. I hope, county, you get that fisher cause it will clean you out! Your houses must be where all the predators from around here are going!

Rancher--I will be ordering eggs myself from fred around the same time you are. Hope he doesnt mix up our order.

Sorry to hear of your aunts passing. My condolences to you and yours.

Have a good evening all.

If you want some of my KC eggs in the spring I'd be more than happy to give you some of mine.

I was thinking of getting some Ancona eggs from a seller on ebay. I'd like to get some experience hatching ducks eggs before trying to my own KCs or Runners in the Spring and getting disappointed with low hatch rates. The ducks could stay inside until big enough to be put in the shed with a heat lamp I have in there and then eventually moved in with the other duckers.
