NY chicken lover!!!!

Does it really matter? I am on my third glass and feelin' fine( only I have animals to feed in this crappy weather).... HHmmm maybe I will have another.....(it is a boxed wine from Price Chopper. Cheep(haha) and not so bad. You're welcome to come and share. I have been invited to Spain and train with Olympian Juan Manuel Munez Diaz (dressage). So If I decide to, I have to live on the cheap(note spelling). Really cheap.......Really, really cheap........More boxed wine for me please!!!

vmd,

How cool to be asked to train in dressage in Spain under an Olympic medalist. That would be an unbelievable experience, I'm sure. What kind of horses do you own / ride? Dutch warmbloods, Trakehners ... I didn't realize you were into dressage.

As for wine, I'm a dry red girl, myself! Love trying new ones.

I just got a regular head of cabbage from Aldis and put this super long screw in it and hung it up. At first I put it almost eye level so they could see it. They didn't do much wiht it for the first day. Then the next day I noticed that they started to peck at it. Once I knew that they got the hang of it I raised it up so they had to jump a little to get it so it was just above their heads. I left it up and by the third day there was only a little bit left. I plan on getting some more for them through out the rest of winter. I figure every few weeks or so. Gives them something to do.
That is soo cool!!!

Thanks for the info, LuvMyChicks. I should give it a go. I think I've been throwing too much scratch, but I do feel sorry for them lately (weather). I am so not looking forward to a return of the arctic blast and worry about the birds at night when the temps are down near 0. Ugh...

Oh, I wanna come visit. Really. Are you coming to the picnic? Would love to meet you. If I wasn't sick (chronic leukemia) so I am so tired some days, tying my shoes is more than I can do, I would LOVE to do exactly what you plan to do.

Man, I didn't know that you were ill. Saying some feel better prayers for you, Cass. You sound like a tough cookie, which probably serves you well. Hope you are getting some good treatment. Take care.

Ditto...also keeps those shooting lanes open.

Oh my, I can imagine! Once mine hit that 2 wk mark I'm ready to give them the boot out the door! Not only do they stink but the dust! Ugh!!!

Well, we heard about the dust. They're 3 weeks and no dust. Maybe I'm cleaning up after them too much? I'm changing their water about 3x a day in case a crumb(s) gets into it. Fresh bedding with wood chips and paper towels every day. Changing their little sleeping box every couple of days. So far we don't have any dust. There's no smell either. We vacuum all around their "area" even though there's really nothing to vacuum up. We were expecting them to be filthy from what we heard but they are clean as a whistle! We have people here with asthma and allergies and so far, no troubles from the birds. Thanks for the advice though, we may build a little container/coop for them to have some outside exposure when it's warmer out. Such cutie pies! We love our birds!

The pink bikini goes nicely with her bouffant hairdo! What do you think?

One big problem and actually it ranges is size.....BIRDS.... Seeds can live through them and be planted else where. Depending on seed and environment you could have gmos growing in your own yard if they **** while flying over head.

I tried googling what seeds can be transmited that way but I saw waterfowl stuff and others but no list just general stuff like there have been snails and such passed by a bird still alive. Cross pollination isn't just bees and butterflys. Birds and mammals can transmit seeds or insects over a distance.

I would say living there will promote a safer place for non gmo items but animals range and poo all over.

Sorry but in 50 years I don't think there will be any gmo free plant food. It's why I don't see how they can win law suits if cross pollination will over ride non gmo plants. A bee bird any animal moves some gmo item and it sets your whole crop wrong with gmo's. I can see a lawsuit of polluting being won but needs a lot of money to support it. Even though it is easly proven within 1 year have a gmo free green house with a gmo green house next to it with only a 2x2ft tunnel connecting the two no entrance for people and have a bee hive in the gmo side. Test non gmo side and see how it pans out. I guess that would be easy common sense talking and not court house sense....

I just went through 450 posts!

I think Nora is working on teeth. She is chewing her hands and drooling a ton. At the beginning of the week she didn't want to settle down to sleep at night. My coworker and her kids were sick and I picked up overtime Monday and Wednesday. I ended up sick Thursday and left work on Friday. I had the chills, hurt all over, cough, and fever. I felt better yesterday but still wasn't moving fast. I still have an aching back, but at least I don't feel like I was hit by a truck any more. My older two had mild fevers yesterday. I hope they don't get as sick as I did.

LuvMyChicks-- I think my DH and I were at Morrisville when you were.

I plan on starting a thread for the picnic today. I see that everyone is getting excited. It's only a few short months away!
