NY chicken lover!!!!

I don't dare to go to TSC lest they have Pekins. I have no problem resisting chicks, but I'm a sucker for duckehs.

lol I'm a sucker for both but they don't have any of the chicks I want now that I have my flock and I know what I want to build later down the line. The ducks I have to admit I was a sucker for because I've wanted them as long as I wanted chickens. These aint the ducks I wanted but they will do for starting out and maybe in a year or two i'll get what ducks I really want and show them.

It was weird one tsc had golden comets all other bins was straight run the other tsc had only ducks and we called a third tsc and they wont get anyting till next week.

Hello my name is PhoredaBurds and I am a waterfowl addict.
One feather and I am done.
I avoid TSC when they have ducklings as well. Keep telling myself they need a pond and they're messy and I don't have a house for them and....
The geese I have now were supposed to be just brooded for a friend. They were supposed to go live with her and weed her garden. I brought them over there to visit:).

They grew and got loud and more messy, but when they would follow me around telling me about their day... ugh that killed me.
Fortunately my friend who the geese were for adopted a dog that spring. The dog turned out to have special needs and aggression issues. She had her hands full already.

Now I'm thinking adding 4 Africans would round out a nice group of 6 and because they'd probably be happier in a big group.
Or maybe I need ducks. Runners might do well on my property. Oh and those Welsh Harlequins are such pretty birds...

I should probably be medicated.

JLaw, if I have eggs from my black runners in time for the picnic I'll bring you some if that's a breed you are still interested in.

I was wanting runners but black ones cause I like the green sheen on the males. That and because it seems everyone has all the other colors except black. Geese man wife would kill me. I lucked out on the ducks because the kids wanted them also when we went into the store so it was 3 to 1 for the ducks. Glad you got to keep the geese that you fell in love with raising them. They look like they are happy even without a pond.

sure I'd love that just let me know how much you want for them. I opened the door on ducks, now they are fair game just like chickens lol. next up is a pig but that's for eating not a pet. I wonder how many male ducklings we have. We are thinking of eating the extra males since neither one of us has eaten duck before. My wife is regretting moving out here. She thought since I was raised in Cincinnati that I wouldn't want farm animals. I told her our next house has to have woods, a field, a stream, and a huge pole barn or two. I don't think that will be for another 10 years or so once they kids move out.

yeah it was nice. It helped the ducks was shaking their tail feathers and running in a circle around the water dish playing follow the leader. My wife loves me and lets me get what I want to buy normally or she caves in after awhile. Last night she was looking at the ducks and saying she cant believe she has ducks in the house after saying no ducks even when she caved on chickens she still said no ducks. Took a year but now she caved on ducks.

Has anyone noticed chicks from TSC are loud? I mean it seems I always have a loud one or two when I bring them home. But when I hatch eggs they aint nearly as loud. Makes you wonder which bird they are missing and trying to call out to. But even when I sell some of my hatch and I have others still there they aint loud like TSC birds are. Wife and I was talking about that last night cause we had two loud ducks on the ride home and one kept it up even once it got into the brooder.
