NY chicken lover!!!!

Today being a little warmer and sunnier, I cleaned off the mostly thawed poop board, an epic undertaking, and cleaned the rooster blood off the walls. Now it looks less like a crime scene, and it smells much better, love that mrs meyers! Less poop helps too. Had lots of companionship while working. As soon as I started scooping, five of the girls hopped up to supervise, then as there was about two square feet scooped, they all decided to have a dust bath. It was not one of those happy sharing dust baths, this seemed to be sort of competitive and every girl for herself.

Tonight I plan to check Earl's comb to see how it is healing. I have found a home for Tapistry with two mellow chickens, one of whom is a PR from Deb, so they could be family! I hope by the time I take Tapistry to her new home, Earl can resume his place in the flock.

So excited, finally got my old Redwood incubator working properly...Keeps temps up. Found out what I was doing wrong.. So I sat a while in the barn adjusting the wafer until I got it up to 100 and it turned off like it should. So now, I'm putting my thermometers in different parts of it to make sure the temp is the same through out. Then, the egg test...I will be so nervous.

I will be so happy to be able to hatch in the barn and use the space in the house for other things...

Uh, no. I go out to the barn several times a day, so I'll get enough of that.

I'm most excited about hatching the geese...can't wait!

Hey All,
Been battling with this litter of bunnies that was born Tuesday night. I've lost two of the four kits so far. :-( Momma was feeding them. I'm down to 2, she's finally feeding them so we'll see how it goes I guess. She's a first time mom and I wasn't ready to give up on letting the babies just die.

My three eggs in the incu are still growing. So that's good. Gonna finish doing the rest of my moving of the coops tomorrow since DH is off. Ducks and the Orps are left and have to get up to the top of the hill. That should be interesting. Plan on cleaning out the duck coop too. It's disgusting but everything's been frozen so I can't do much but add more to it.
