Lately I have been doing some reading about fermenting food and so I was wondering if any of you do this and where you buy your feed. I am still looking to find a local feed mill (Buffalo/Lockport area). I have bought food at Clydes for the starter but would really like to go to a local Mill. Anyone use one in my area?
I live in Hamburg. I use whole grains that I get from south towns feeds in Boston & ferment them. I buy in 50# bags and weigh them up and make several 50# batches at once so all I need to do is scoop and add to my fermenting jar.
Fermenting the feed has cut the amount of food I am feeding out and I have a much healthier flock.
