NY chicken lover!!!!

I have a trio of Orps- a splash English Orpington that's the size of a turkey, an American Lavender hen and their daughter a blue hen. I just hatched out 2 of the blue's eggs under a broody 2.5 weeks ago and got a blue and splash and I also have 7 in the incu right now that should hatch in 2 weeks or so. I'm looking to get one or two more splash and the rest will be up for grabs.
so the lavender is one of the parents if so i wouldnt be able to use any of the offspring because of lavender popping back up in future generations im looking for pure english bbs orps but thank you though :)

How early can I do the water test to check the eggs to see if they might hatch. Do I have to wait till they eggs are due or overdue? Can I do them earlier? How early? My eggs are due to hatch in about 5 days? I'm trying to leave it up to my broodies, but they are first timers so I'm worried...and I'm impatient!

Whew after working all night,I finally got the coop painted! Exciting to know I'm that much closer to being done. All that's left is to fix any holes.
