NY chicken lover!!!!

Hello all ... I'm in the western ny area , just started with my chickens . I got 6 from tractor supply and raised them inside until the weather broke . Well needless to say a fox got 4 of my chickens !!! Now I have no idea where I can get more from ? Any ideas . Thankfully we got the fox and a few other nasty preditors around . I was really hoping for eggs soon .
Not sure if Macedon is a doable drive for you. Natureberry farm has chicks of various ages right about now so you can get some the same age as your remaining two.
Sorry about the fox attack, last year I had a bad year with fox while I was trying to rebuild my flock. Took 8 in one day.

Coleen and Frita,

Evening all. Clopening is done and I had some chicken therapy today. I finally got my hands on Clyde, my up and coming heritage rir roo. He wasnt too happy that I caught him and picked him up and held him. I patiently explained to him what I was hoping to get from him and told him what happened to all the other roosters who couldnt behave themselves and how I hoped he wouldnt have to go that way either. I sat with him on my lap and pet him some, opened his wings so I could inspect them and see the coloring/shape, felt his keel bone and breast bone and checked his legs, feet. He settled down for this inspection when he realized he wasnt getting away. Bonnie, his counterpart, was trying to do the dominate hen thing over me. I wasnt having any of it and treated her like I was the dominate hen. She is going to be a handful, that one. Suddenly my monsters and brats are no longer little, with the brats being almost as big as their mothers. They are also learning to hold their ground a little more against the hens. Sniff, my cute babies are growing up!

Lynzi--so sorry to hear about dh. Things happen for a reason and I am sure he will get something soon. God always has a plan.

Lap--my counter looked like that a couple of hours ago. I just put away all my jam. Now Im waiting for blackberries!

I had no intentions of breeding these girls and still do not. I have 25ish orps growing up to replace them. I have no problems with turning birds into freezer fillers, esp if I'm going to be serious about breeding to sop. Which is the only reason my husband puts up with me hatching birds every three weeks from January to September.
