NY chicken lover!!!!

Sorry I'm a few days behind here been trying to catch up. But with Roller Derby tryouts......
Who is the roller derby-er? Didn't know we even had such a thing. When I was a kid my dad used to love watching the roller derby's on TV. (Are we even talking about the same thing?) Don't you wish that the chicks would grow up with the same markings? Love this picture!

Sally8 ... best wishes sent to you ..... I've been fighting a heart issue myself - self learning and self treating due to our horrid health care system.

and yes, I really wish the peeps would grow up with similar markings - some of them are flat out adorable.

My flock is handling the weather better than I am - they have a ton of brush to hid in this year - and as soon as the sun really comes up - they spend the whole day under cover with a few hilarious all out runs from one brushy spot (say the raspberry patch) to another (say the burdock area I haven't been up to cutting). ha ha

I think I got 2 whole pumpkins going - do they start out green ???

The only thing annual wise I am any good at is sunflowers. Got 3 different kinds of them going well. Everything else withered and died. Oh well. At least my orchard is growing well - but young - only 5 apples this year ... I'm watching them carefully ! ha ha

Morning Everyone!
Chris informed me yesterday that my second polish/Silkie cross is a hen as well as the first one! Can't beleive I lucked out with those two! So now I have 5 hens under my Sizzle roo which is perfect. Still have 6 chicks growing out over at his place too. Smooth sizzles, frizzled sizzles and a frizzled Silkie.

Waiting to hear back from my realtor on whether or not she was able to find me some land to rent. I'm hoping we did because the more and more I think about it, I think it would much less disruptive for me to rent an acre or half from someone who has 5+ acres than it would be if I were to share someone's backyard with them. Especially in winter, if I could just pull up to "my" own lot and shovel a path out to them rather than pull into someone's driveway and be like Umm Hi, mind if I shovel myself a path out to my coop? Lol I also updated my CL add stating I want land rather than share a backyard with someone.

Heart - Low Fat Diet & exercise ?
Speaking of Markings - The white chicks we hatch have black spots ..Otherwise they are all black or 2 toned like most Australorp chicks .
I wondering if they are sexable ? Australorp with plymouth white rocks .
As the 1 black one is a hen ..the 1 white one I Im pretty sure is a Roo .
Too soon to say I guess ...We have 2 more black ones ...and this little white one just hatched ..today
IM A GRAMMA ! This Dot ...see the black dots ?

Gramma Chick - You'd think so ... that's what the US docs who are older and the drug companies say .... but I had to do some hard research and that is NOT the best or fastest diet to set the internals back on track ...

As much grass fed meat as I want - the more the better as it reverses hardening of the arteries ... that's right - but it has to be grass fed - all the research that the "old-time" docs go on is feed lot beef and it has a nutrient profile that is as different as a different species. That beef is almost toxic. Then no pre-made packaged food, and easy on the sugar and carbs ... not cutting them out - just easy.

Then, yes - as many veggies and fruits as I like. Green tea and Co Q10 with lots of vit C

Personally I have added gluten free as if I am even slightly sensitive to gluten - then why not reduce that reaction. I also am buying raw milk and cheese made from raw milk whenever I can.

So - 3 weeks on this - eating until I am as full as full can be (with lots of cheese and snacks) - lost 5 pounds and feel almost back to normal from death's door .... I'll have to keep it up ... but once I cleaned out packaged food and such - but for me - it is very hard to cook every meal - I am almost doing nothing but work and cook and I hate it..... but it is keeping me alive.

I know it sounds a little preachy - but it surprises me how many people don't know the nutritional value in grass fed vs regular beef and that all the studies that our drug companies use are regular beef ... well - I didn't know all of it until recently - but I did know it was 'better for you' Now I know how much better.

It is very similar but not staged this time around and no a days we do it on a flat track (mostly) the skating is hard and the hits are harder.

these are a few linkis from my town. It was revived in Texas back in 2001 but this time as a sport and not a side show. Now it has spread world wide but unfortunately it isn't funded by anything so you have to live a double life so we have derby names.
