NY chicken lover!!!!

The birds here all took cover but I didn't see anything. All the Dels and Rocks were inside the coop. I didn't count heads and did see lots of feathers in the run but not enough to warrant and attack. Plus no body.

Now for some reason since I've take Cotton bud out of the EE , rock coop an EE hen have been getting beat up. lots of feathers in the corner.

I took Cotton bud out czu she's bald from getting picked on. I moved Short cuz the EE roo was beating him up. What is going on?

I move them every night to the half hoop with some young ones in there but they keep going into the wooden coop at night. Now though it's in with the Dels and Rocks since I've been letting them out into the yard.

The EE Rocks are kept in the run now. That's when I noticed the pile of feathers in the corner and the EE hen being beaten up.

Does any of this make sense?

the EE hen is now at the bottom of the pecking order ...cotton bud was at the bottom before

i am wondering how much feed everyone goes threw ..i noticed for my 22 birds i am going threw about 50lb bag of layer pellets every 2 weeks or so ..does this seem like a lot of feed for 22 birds .i dont ferment my feed , it comes out of the bag and straight into the feeders .they seem happy ..there is some waste but what ever they kick out of the feeders i leave on the floor for them to clean up ..my feeders are about empty by morning when i open the coop and the stuff on the floor is cleaned up .i use dumars layer pellets from the tractor store 16 % proteen..i do give treats and scratch but not every day ..this time of yr they get alot of garden tomatoes, but again not every day .....

not all are laying yet ..my wyandottes are not all laying yet , theres 11 of them ..my wellies are laying but just small eggs ..pretty but still small..

I have 11 big adults, and 7 small adults, and I got through about 40 pounds a week. Non-fermented, supplimented with gardens weeds and veg when time permits.

I'm about the same. I have 18 adults, 6 ducks and 9 babies. The babies are on starter still, the rest are on pellets. I go through about 50# every other week. The starter/grower is about 50# a month. I feed both to my ducks. I do notice that they go through less during the summer when they are out more. I didn't have this many last winter so I'm sure that I will go through more then.

My sick girl seems to be doing a little tiny bit better. She has been drinking and is going poop so at least that much is better. She really loves to sit and soak in her bath. I'll have to take a pic. She lays right down and puts her head on the edge if the tub and just chills out. When I was out I picked up some meds so hopefully that will help her. Only time will tell if she will pull through, but she seems to be getting a little better so I hope that she continues. If she gets worse I will have no choice but to put her down.

I'm not sure what I go through, but it seems like a lot of chick starter lately. I pour some water into the dishes first and then the crumbles. Most are on starter as there are so many young ones in the flock. As soon as they reach laying age they'll all got back on layer pellets.

Country Max had Feather Fixer for $2 off so I got some of that. Since I repackage it it's hard to tell how much they eat.

I do feed Dumor pellets too, but I think I'll switch to Agway Egg Producer since it has more protein and winter is coming. It's 18% like the Feather Fixer.

Take care, places to go and people to annoy,

I use Agway too. During the summer I fed the Egg Layer pellets which is 18%...Switched to the Egg Producer Pellets a few bags ago and it is 21%. Thought that it was a good idea since a bunch were starting to molt. The are looking better now with the added protein.

I WISH mine went through only 50 every 2 weeks. My flock goes 50 A WEEK. Now I do have 5 ducks down there....but still. I only have 18 chickens.

Yes you are right I'd forgotten the producer is 21%. It used ot be I'd hardly notice any molting in the flock. I'll be switching back after the Feather fixer is gone. The egg layer I believe is only 16%. I can check the bags.

Dragonlord - I am sorry for your loss.
