NY chicken lover!!!!

I am sorry Rancher about your Rooster. It's so hard to lose a beloved animal.

Wind chill is supposed to go down to -20 tonight. I have 3 EE in my outside coop (5'x5') which has thermal bubble insulation and plastic around 3 of the outside walls and straw and a puppy heater pad on the inside. However, they are above the heat pad and straw on the roost. Should I put a blanket in there too? I am concerned about this cold.

I just bought this computer middle of January brand new. The cheapest one I could find. It has a 8.1.
I am managing with it, but I love my old computers so much better. It is what it is. I got everything hooked up to it except it won't take my disk from my camera. Course my camera is 15 yrs old. And takes one of those 4 inch squares. I can use my scanner though. I had to get a adapter cable for my printer which is probably 8 yrs or older. I was not giving that up. It is a dumb printer. Will accept expired ink and still work :)
Mine has been upgraded to 8.1. something and I still don't like it

May 30th. Ava, NY
LOVE my iMac!!!
demp4 I have Ipads and Iphones and love them can't wait to get an IMac

I can design fliers without that extra stuff. Microsoft Works Word Processor should be just fine. I design special labels for packages I send to my grandkids.
I could design then too but this does don have Mocrosoft works on it it has Microsoft office that I had to purchase and I don't like it for anything more than typing up papers

Bummer of a day.

Of course I had to snow blow twice, but when I went out to close everyone up, I found my Birchen rooster dead. Not sure what happened. He was find today and still warm when I found him. He would be about four. Seemed just fine. Had some crooked toes but a nice guy. I have his son who I will now put in with the girls. I have some of his eggs in the incu. I hope some of them hatch.

He was just laying there in the doorway with his head laying over the threshold. No ones been sick in the coop. It never gets easy.

Even if I did a necropsy I wouldn't know what I was looking for.
Sorry about your rooster but he at least had a good life with you .

I had one side that was open for ventilation at the top about 9" and then the rest was 2/3" heavy siding that opened up. I put some of the bubble insulation over the open vent. I hope they snuggled down into the straw.

Sorry to hear about your Roo .
Could 4 years just be old age ? is he a Heritage Roo ?

His whole lot I got as chicks and the roos had crooked toes, so what does that tell you.

4 years is mid age to me...my oldest is 6?

My oldest is 7 but 6-7 is old for a chicken. Well she will be if she makes it to the 22nd. She even laid a few eggs last year. Not many live to that age. Of course I don't keep many til they're older unless their special.

Sorry to hear of the hawk attack, and rooster. Such worry and sadness. Also sorry to hear about your aunt. It does stink to have to give bad news to a person who is working and away from home., it is natural to want to be there for support.

I too have been having computer problems. My browser was taken over by a pop up which opened an explicit website which couldn't be closed. As there was as now storm and Ihate the Apple store I tried to call apple tech support, where they informed me that I had no guarantee left and it would be $29.95 to speak to a tech. I told them that was not acceptable, that they needed to stand by their products and help the users. They said $29.95, or goto the store or online. I told them that the Genius kids were obnoxious and not helpful, and the browser was frozen. They said $29.95. Isaid goodbye. This morning I suited up and put lavender oil on so I would have a prayer of going to the store without becoming agitated at their snotty condescension. But on the way Istopped at my son's to give him eggs, and told him I was headed to the dreaded store. He fixed it justby going to settings and clearing Safari's cookies and history. I love that boy. So I joyfully bought him lunch, for less than $29.95. And will happily do so again...when things get fouled up.

Maybe tomorrow Earl can go back out with the flock. H only has one more small scab, and he sounds very strong. Hope there are no disputes, his sons are so immature, and selfish. 6 more weeks of winter...
