Do any of you raise a large number of chicks inside your home through the winter? If you do, did you build your own brooders? When do you put them outside? Does anyone use a hoop house for them to play in through the winter?

I am thinking there is a better set up than what I currently have and don't want to re-invent the wheel...

I can certainly bring my 'stuff' to show people - I could possibly bring a top bar hive too. I would be happy to share my info. just bear in mind I'm not an expert! If anyone wants to help out with the session that would be great! 

That sounds great! I've been itching to learn about bees as well. Sounds like the environment could use more bee keepers too.

Rancher, I think it was you who recommended using old cat litter jugs to move water. Thank you for the great idea. It's still no fun to carry water thru 2 feet of drifted snow, but those jugs hold so much & are easy to carry. Thank you!

It's funny with all the GMOs & pesticides that are so widely used in this country, people still wonder why there's so much cancer. Guess not so funny. But there seems to be a movement towards better, cleaner food. Think there's hope for us. :/

The average person is sucked into the company line - which has been proven not to work over the long run - yes more people get corn and therefore fed if you plant GMO corn ... but the corn is vastly deficient in different nutrients and higher than the EPA will allow in formaldehyde in water - by hundreds more ... if the EPA would condemn the water - why not the corn ? Monstanto lobby payments.

Thing is - if we had a one year disastrous time - sure - eat the stuff - but year after year it is ruing our bodies, land and ?

I'm not against science - or advancements .... but they must be divorced from corporate greed. I wonder what the CEO of Monsanto eats?

Research who heads your Government divisions...it was prior Monsanto heads a few years ago. Not sure if they are still in place now. Definite Collusion.

People just don't get it...and honestly...with Government subsidizing corn no one will pay the true cost of food production to let organic compete in a fair market. Why should they...McDonalds accepts SNAP benefits and you can feed your family on the dollar menu.

If you have any question on what our poorer families are eating go to Walmart on the 1st when the benefit cards are re-loaded. You will count 15 people in their p.j's and find cart loads of boxed cereals, soda, boxed frozen food, chips, boxed foods and bagged garbage. Very few will have veggies in their cart...and this is the future of our planet.

Have you seen the movie Idiocracy? I think it is about 10 years old now. Rent it. It was created to be a absurd goofy spoof type movie. It is coming more and more a reality.

I'll watch it sometime when I am full energy - else I might get sad.


But we have succumbed to too much lobby influence and only "real" people are charged with fraud.

I always wondered why those companies who have been proven to lie are rarely penalized unless it is a cancer type thing .... If you lie - then you should be held responsible.

If I voted for someone who said/promised something and then didn't even attempt it - I should be able to sue them for fraud. Alas, I can't afford a lawyer.
