NY chicken lover!!!!

Is anyone else getting all this rain? It rained all day yesterday and all night and it's still raining this morning. The ducks are loving it, the chickens not so much.

Non stop rain for the rest of the week I hear.
I forgot to throw the silkies in the coop when I got home. Went out before daylight, one was actually inside on a roost. Rest of them outside looking like muddy mops...Don't understand it, they go inside to
eat and lay eggs. Hopefully they catch on before the temp drops. I know
the other chickens don't pick on them. And the only mature rooster I have right now is a silkie, and he's one of them that sleeps outside.

The rain can stop here too...Cold and wet. I have so much more coop work to do to be ready for winter. I just need about 3 weeks of decent weather!!! I only have two coops left at the old farm to move down the road...Unfortunately, they are like 10 x 20 and the other one is cemented into the ground...LOL

May have to give up the new garage...Last winter I had 3 to worry about outside this winter 150....LOL

It can stop here too. My ladies have been stuck inside and are not liking it.

I have figured out the girls don't mind the rain and they don't mind the cold either. At what point do these insane birds realize it's not summer any longer? They have been acting foolish and obnoxious for days now. No huddling and group warming just a lot of catch me if you can. Silly girls.

Mine are all out ....as usual ... they will be like drowned rats tonight ...Im going to make them something warm for their snack . The rain is good for something .. My grass is getting poop free & my chicken dishes are getting washed
the water that gathers in the snack dish is my girls favorite to drink. They have free access to clean fresh water at all times. Silly girls just like anything not "fresh".

Afternoon all. Got over 6 inchest of rain last night. Driving home from work was a nightmare as it was raining so hard and blowing that I could see only 10 feet in front of my car. Dh had to run the pump 6 times. Mind you, we have a large pump that moves a lot of water and he was worried because at one point the pump wasn't keeping up with the amount of water coming into our back yard. Roads are flooded, again as well. Not looking forward to the hurricane that's coming.

Chickens are well and molting bigtime. Some of the girls are looking raggedy. Poor Duke is missing neck feathers. Silkies are fine. Pullets are laying now so I will have a few available come spring.

Made some hot pepper jam. Found a recipe for canning apple pie filling. Will do that next week. Still eating tomatoes.

Eggs are 350 in the stores down here. Raised my price some. Delivering 5 dozen tomorrow. Made 3 different quiche and brought them to work. Everyone liked them.

Didn't read all 12 pages I missed. I hope everyone is well. Any news on chickenstocks yet? I have to plan way early now that I work fulltime!

Later all.
