That's funny about the pigs, I was just talking to a guy at work originally from PA whose friend makes good money renting hogs to farmers for clearing land. They are trained to stay in a flagged in area! He get's paid by the acre, cheaper for the farmer, and free food for the pigs.

Stuffedcritter and Beer can, I think yall need to talk to my husband. We have 9 acres and I can't convince him we need critters. I want some cows, pigs, goats and 2 horses. He says , "get over it."

How about electric fence? The stuff I bought from Premier is very adaptable. I use batteries which I recharge, and the fencing can be moved around. Everyone respects it, and I can tell you it does give a jolt! Safer for the goats than tethers.

I read that both a Alpaca & a donkey will protect a flock herd

See now my mindset is to make the land work for me. Not just sit fallow and not produce anything. I figure if I sell a dozen eggs that's $2.75 I didn't have otherwise and I don't need that dozen eggs so why let it yeild nothing.

Now for the family I can get more than enough currants, berries or whatever for us and the overage sold is money I would not otherwise have. One year we spent $60 picking berries. If I can grow enough just for that amount I've saved $60.

So like I said, I want to make this land work for me even if I earn enough to feed the flock or pay the taxes. Which by the way I could do because they're not that expensive on the empty lot.

Right now I've got the incu up and running . Any extra chicks get sold and that's money I would not otherwise have. It takes just as much energy to run a full incu as it does for a half full incu. Of course there are no guarantees of how many will hatch.

Our land is loved by the wild animals for the berries of many sorts that grow wild on it. I for sure make the land work for me. Grow extra everything and sell it off. Not too much extra work for a full garden opposed to half. The eggs will become money down the road but for now we only get enough to feed us. The potential of life off property is so abundant and most are afraid of it.

Not bad for a starter, but recommend a fan. Turner is nice too.

Hovabator w fan not much more expensive & probably do a better job. Definitely recommend a turner.

Well now I suppose with a fan and turner it would be good. However it might be easier to just buy an incu with a fan installed already. Check the prices.

Still air do work but take a certain amount of skill.

One thing I highly stress is placement of any incubator. Location, location, location.
