Thanks! It's a great house, just in the middle of town, lol. Not crazy about that part.
Oh those b*tches ! On a side note I'd be interested in what you might have for grow outs?
I wish the hens were laying, if they were I'd totally hatch! But they stopped about a month ago so I'm out of luck there Otherwise the incubator would be up and running already!

Careful. hahaha. I said, "I just want to see what my flock's offspring look like." Then I wanted more. Even with really stressful rough hatches, I still want to keep doing it. My honest recommendation is to borrow an incubator first. I did, and now I'm building my second incubator.

I don't know anyone to barrow one from. And hatching is going to happen several times a year so I need one. Or at least I'm telling my husband I do.

@Chicken girl 15 incubators are wonderful, challenging & dangerous at the same time! working now on building another one based on Sally Sunshine's cabinet cooler-bator. And I started out with a Genesis 1588 in 2013, and now have built 2 from coolers. Gutted the 2nd one as it was just a free white styrofoam cooler & after many hatches, was pretty dirty despite cleaning each time. Re-using those parts for the new cabinet cooler-bator. Hope to get it up & running for the Easter Hatch-A-Long as the 1588 is already 3/4 full.

I'm so sorry to read about Raptor. He was a very handsome guy. His son, Lambert is doing well. He lost the tips of his comb to frostbite, but healing well. My AC girls are not laying at all right now either. I increased the light in the chicken house to almost 14 hours and it hasn't made a difference. Meanwhile the spitzes are practically throwing their eggs at me. Congrats on the house. Hope all works out to keep the piece of land with the chickens. Sending chicken prayers.

I know! The same with me! The eight I have are wayyy too much for my yard. And every time I come on here, I'm reading about incubating and hatching, and seeing all these cute fluffy chicks! It's so hard to restrain myself!

Welcome, Arielle! I am quite new also. Got my first chicken in September. Quite unplanned. And now I went and bought seven more!

Congrats on the new chicks, akaruby. Better luck with these. It's nice that the last four are doing great. That little brown one will be a 'surprise'. Keep you guessing.
