So very sorry for your loss. I'm sure they knew how much they were loved.2 chickens died at night in the coop this past week ...found them dead in the morning One friday night.- a hatchery plymouth rock - 2 years old .. she had something going on for a while ...wanted to sleep in the nest boxes ..at night.....nothing visably wrong that I could see .acted normal other wise . one last night - she was my sweety ...Marker - -1 1/2 years oldshe would lightly peck me to be picked up ..and hugged & held .. She didnt want to be held yesterday ...which I thought was odd... They both had a Great Life Here !

yippie a chicken from my neck of the woods. I won't be the only southerner on my property anymore.This should be an Open to the Public Meeting - meaning they should have right in their agenda time for public input .... take a cameraThey will be on their best behavior - and hand out info to them about the benefits of backyard chicken keeping - including bioterriorism :O Lay it on thick and heavy - WITH A SMILE !!!

GRAMMA - I'll bring more than 2 - and you can take your best guess at which two are pullets ... I can't sex this breed - Pyxis is usually pretty good at that - mostly right - but she is not coming this year .... maybe someone else there feels they are good at the guessing game and can help you .... If I knew, I'd give you pullets - but I just have no way of knowing .....
My blue egg layers are called Arkansas Blues - Production level egg layers of pure (genetic) sky blue eggs.

I wish I knew of more people in the Whitesboro area besides myself thats wants backyard chickens to be a normal thing. I got them to make an exception for two hens for me but its like walking on eggshells. If I got one complaint of the noise or smell I would be forced to get rid of them I was told. I have Little pullets but I am so stressed out about when they get older and are moved into their outside coop. They pretty much took any joy about having chickens and made it into something stressful. I think if there were more people who want them and it became a normal thing to own them that people would be more relaxed about their neighbors having them. If there is anyone who lives in the villiage that has them or wants them, I would love to make a friend and start to make this a normal thing.

Pics of the Arkansas Blues? I've read about them. Also you must bring lots to Chickenstock

sorry for your loss Gramma. I lost one of my original hens in Jan. Big Mama was a Light Brahma, she was 2 when I got her over 5 years ago.
