That pellet rifle handles a woodchuck well? What grain are the pellets you use? I've thought about buying one but I already own a .22 and my neighbors could care less about a snap every once and a while

My neighbors don't care either, heck some of them shoot a lot on weekends.
None of them know when I'm shooting the pellet rifle though. I bought just a cheap crossman g1 extreme 1,000fps, 1,200fps with pba ammo, on sale four five yrs ago, whenever it was they started allowing them for small game hunting. Never used it for hunting though, wasn't happy with the accuracy, thought I'd have to buy a big $$ one. Just recently changed the scope from the 4x it came with to a 3x9 and switched from the cheap crossman pellets to gamo red fire ballistic tip .177, 7.8 grain. Liking the gun much better now.
Even with the cheap lead pellets it will poke a hole straight through both sides of a coffee can at 30 yards.
They have them in .22 caliber also, and even bigger for hunting about anything.

What about chipmunks? Suddenly about a week ago a little chipmunk has moved into my yard. I believe it's living under the deck and digging in a few places in the garden?? Squirrels haven't been around in a while, which is just fine with me.

I'm getting rid of chipmunks also. They're cute and I like them but they steal feed and stuff it all over inside my garage, inside lawn tractor, wood splitter, everywhere. ...

@Gramma Chick I'm so sorry to read about the skunk issue. Glad you have eliminated the problem. Please keep me posted on how the single spitz does. I have other chicks same age & can come up w a companion for her if you need one.

Critters you can legally eliminate without a permit if they are a nuisance, and some that are protected that can be with out a permit out of season, if they are endangering you/your family, your livestock (including chickens) or your property.
Please note, I don't think it says on this, and I've heard some people say you can if they're killing your chickens, birds of prey (eagles/hawks) are Federally protected and can not killed.

@tao chick I'm sorry to read about ur wry neck chick. It sounds like you did everything you could for her. Sometimes I wish euthanasia was legal for humans, because too often it is the most humane thing that can be done for a being. Such a tough decision.

Dare I comment on killing birds of prey? There are many ways to deal with predators other than killing them. Though I haven't had many problems. I have previously offered solutions that may help. Though I'm not against killing predators If they won't listen to reason.

I do think I"m at an advantage since I am home most of time and can be outside where predators see me and think twice. Squirrel are the most persistent. I hate them. If I see them dead in the road I run over them again for good measure.

Can take any chances with squirrels.

Got home late & closing up the critters & this is what I found under the Spitz!

Looked quick & a few other eggs are pipped! So they obviously started to incubate before Chickenstock, as I just put into lockdown the eggs I set on 5/29.
